Sudan
Does anyone ponder why so many British passport holding Sudanese are in Sudan?
One chap on the front page of today's Telegraph is weeping because he had left his wife & son there when he boarded the plane.

He is described as a taxi-driver; I was wondering how a British taxi-driver can afford the time & money to take his family for a visit to Sudan, - any ideas please?

and therefore… what? he has committed treason in your eyes by not living in the UK? he’s not welcome in england because he chose not to live there for a few years?
what a pathetic, hateful and reductionist view of the world… people spend time abroad for all kinds of reasons. it does not mean they “reject” the UK.
a friend of mine is a joint israeli-british citizen and frequently spends years at a stretch in one or other country… it is part of the modern world.

er we Do know hwaving a british passport does NOT give you residence. You need right of abode or whatever it has mutated to.
Moy Mudda - born Bombay 1909 ( gues which empire) had a British passport and did NOT have a right of residence. But I agree the terms of the 1947 British Nationality Act is special - children of the Empire had to choose British or Indian. what as a white Indian? yup. One or the other
British Israeli is a total red herring - if youare a jew yo have right of return. Ethiopians as the remnants of the twelfth tribe and all that.
but we knew all that innit
and were just being playful, and turning up cases we KNEW didnt apply - you nardy nardy ABers

“ Having right of abode means you’re allowed to live or work in the UK without any immigration restrictions, which means:
you will not need a visa to come to the UK
there’s no limit on the length of time you can spend in the country”
