What caught my eye was cost of 8 day holiday/trip at £195,000.
Hope they are all recovered ok.

I've tried reading the articles but can't find definitive answers - can you help?

How long was the sub supposed to be submerged? When was it due back? My understanding is that the underwater trip lasts only 8 hours - is that right?
Apparently they have a deep sea pipe-laying vessel on hand so there's hope yet.

//Expert says vessel being trapped in Titanic shipwreck could help not hinder rescue

One of the best-case scenarios that might have happened to the Titan would be if it has been entangled in the wreckage of the Titanic, an ocean explorer and expert has said.

If that's the case, it could make the submersible with five people aboard easier to find, Tim Taylor, an ocean explorer and the CEO of Tiburon Subsea, told Sky News' US partner NBC News.

"Lifting the submarine off the bottom is not as hard or difficult as one may think if it's still intact," Mr Taylor said.//

Barry, I read it was an eight hour round trip too.
Thanks, naomi.
There's a good chance that the sub is on the surface, somewhere, and they just need to find it.
Hope you're right, Ellipsis, but they must be running out of water by now if the trip was intended to be only 8 hours. There is not a whole lot of room in that sub for supplies.
Is there a system in place to recover the expense of searching for stricken adventurers in the event of a positive outcome?
Insurance.
For lost luggage or a missed flight maybe, what about an international rescue operation involving many specialists and their equipment that goes on for days?
^^ I think all concerned with the rescue attempt are involved for humanitarian reasons, not monetary
I have it on good authority that insurers are looking at it as we speak.
it's being said, experts warned that the hull should have been tested by independent testing house. also that the viewing port was only rated to a depth of 1300m. if either (or both) turn out to have substance, and knowing how insurance companies operate, any insurance claim would likely be declined.
I understand an aircraft with special equipment has detected underwater sounds. I'd love to know what sort of equipment this is - some sort of Sonar device or drone ?
Anti submarine warfare aircraft from RCAF picked up the banging every 30 mins. Probably a sonar buoy or several.
It is now 10:30 on Wednesday morning and time is running out to find them. I read they could have died earlier if the sub imploded due to the heavy water pressure. A desperately sad situation.
Unfortunately, it's all speculation. What a terrible situation.
im looking forward to the netflix documentary on this one

this is the stuff on nightmares and it horrifies me to give it much thought so i have tried to avoid it

for example i doubt they have a toilet onboard

a son with his father how saddening
I read last night that it was 8 hours before the Coast Guard was notified that contact with the sub had been lost. Why? How? Such precious time wasted!
how can something like this happen those responsible need to be punished evidently a negligent company
