....after UCLA Gaza protest camp cleared.
//Police have detained more than 2,000 people nationwide in the past fortnight at college rallies and protest camps.//

Why do these people - like the pro-Palestine protesters elsewhere - think that bringing chaos to their own society will produce a solution? If order does not prevail the result is mayhem - and that is self-destructive.

I don't wish to denigrate them mind you, but in what universe in any case would just sitting in a tent help? Honestly, if I was a protester I'd be doing more than that, and many have. But they shouldn't then complain when they are moved on.
That is hopelessly naive: these encampments were obstructive to students, and were being used to intimidate some. They also were attracting counter protests. They had their say, as was their right, but enough was enough. There is also evidence they were being at the very least influcned by people who had nothing to do with the universities.
//Sitting in a tent on the campus of your university is hardly bringing mayhem to anyone.//
But that isnt the whole truth though is it?
They 'violently' took over a building and have also been intimidating other students (America Jews that cant do a thing about it either).
But of course the whole picture doesnt suit you usual agenda does it.
oh please. some people call any kind of public support for palestine "intimidating"...
"The tensions at UCLA's main Westwood campus erupted on Tuesday night when a masked pro-Israeli group breached the tent camp on Dickson Plaza and attacked campers with bats, tear gas and other items."
very interesting that you describe this as attracting counter protestors... i would say that this is a far more serious incident than what the pro-palestine crowd was doing. but apparently the police aren't bothered because if you support israel you're always treated as being in the right.
there will come a time when everybody will say they were against this.
the students are also quite right to draw a parallel with the vietnam war. at that time anyone who opposed it was derided as a "pinko" or a "commie" or some other stupid and illiterate insult. the US police frequently used violence on them.
but they were right. and we all now know that they were right.
it's going to be a similar situation with this. Israel is entirely dependent on support from the US government and could commit the hideous atrocities it is currently committing without the complicity of the white house. they are quite right to demand that their government and their universities cease their complicity in the intentional mass murder of civilians.
