It's Really Annoying When You Drop A...

there is a section in the local newspaper, stating that "Sandwell" is moving hundreds of asylum seekers out of its properties and giving these houses/flats to local people..
its about time logic was stronger than P.C. i have no problem with real asylum seekers, but its all gotten out of hand.
there is light at the end of the tunnel !!!!

you have given a genuine answer to the original post.
i cant help it if im colour blind and dyslexic... dont think it was very nice of you to pick up on my problems, but were all adults and i can let that one go.
oneeyedvic..
again you made good points, and i accept i may be a little bit prejudice when it concerns my family.
I left this thread on Saturday because of a computer glitch. I still maintain funkymoped that your statements were racist, regardless of your continous comments that they were not.
I still ask you the question. If you sit on a full double decker bus how do you know that you are the only 'British' person on the bus' and that the rest are immigrants. If you can answer this without referring to colour or creed then I will be really surprised.
I never even questioned the colour of your Irish family, by the way. I accepted that they were immigrants from Ireland.
Your arguments have done nothing to prove that your question was purely about asylum seekers.
In short, I think you may have a valid point about some asylum seekers, but your arguments have let you down.
Funkymoped, sorry for the remark about the font colour, dyslexia never entered my head, as I assumed you'd have difficulty reading everyone else's posts in black. I was not getting at you for a very real disability, I just did not realise that that was the reason you use a pale text. I apologise unreservedly if that gave any offence.
and julie, my kids and I often don't speak English but rather Irish Gaelic to one another yet some of them were born here. I think you'll find it very common in multi-lingual households that people speak either language to one another even if some are "British Citizens by birth", so I don't think the "no english" argument really holds water.
Legitimate 'British' people often don't speak English Julie. For example, my ma in law!!! You will find that legitimate immigrants usually carry on talking in their own mother tongue to their family and friends. I still maintain that funkymoped made racist statements - perhaps unintentionally - but too many assumptions are made about people.
If all the people on the bus spoke English but looked different to 'white english' would this be OK then!!
In your eyes my husband in laws might be considered as illegal immigrants! Granted they are not 'white english'.
I repeat I have lived in an area with a huge immigrant population and in a street where 'white english' were very few and far between.
Sorry Nox, I didn't read your posting before I posted a reply to Julie.
Come on then Julie. Let us in to your secret - how can you tell that all the people on the bus are immigrants. But I thought this thread was about asylum seekers - immigration is a totally different issue. Was funky meaning that all the people on the bus are asylum seekers.
I don't think your arguments are reasoned. I appreciate that you have your views and I am not saying you are wrong and I am right, but funky has diversified from the question and, in my opinion, it was funky that brought up the whole racist issue immediately after Kag's non racist posting.
i think the main difference with opinion in most of these debates comes down to environment experience and education which then colours (no pun intended) our opinions and makes us source our "facts" from the source we trust/like the most... if you read certain news papers they will tell you about britain as a mecca for scroungers and scum bags comming here to do...ohh pick any crime and or devient behaviour... of course read others and they will tell you how the actual number of imigrants and asylum seekers is pretty small in real terms..
in my opinion i am proud of the heritage of this country, we are moral and protect the weak and needy... i agree we should not and can not protect help the world...julie i understand your point, there is only so much room in the country... however i don't think we have reached capacity yet...i would say we should be encouraging other countries to do as we do and take their share of the burden...not just say there is no more room at the inn, i think that was more famously used at the son of god no less
personally i believe it is right to do this and feel happier to pay tax to this end than i do dropping bombs and shooting rounds in populated areas in foreign countries over securing a future oil supply! anyone have any idea on a weekly basis how much TAX money goes on the war in realtion to asylum benefits? i bet it would make your hair curl! we do need more police officers, we need more schools more hospitals and less war
i mention the war only because i believe the race debate is a smoke screen to divide attention away from the true cost this country is spending in foreign countries, doing what exactly? has invading iraq or afghanistan helped anyone here? has it made terrorism less likely? but yet it costs a fortune! that fortune channeled at this country would mean more hospitals, more schools, more coppers... it is not the asylum seekers draining this country it is our country being led by politicians that are spending all our hard earned tax money on the wrong things... to focus on asylum seekers on a financial basis makes no sense to me... if an asylum seeker has travelled to get here i would say thats initiative and guile, you would think when here they would try and better them selves, a job leading to tax being paid?
if asylum comes down to colour then i have no answers you can't change peoples views really, its a stale mate
