Just heard that the muslim teaching assistant, who refused to remove her veil in class,as now been dismissed by the local authority. In my opinion this is a victory for common sense. Your views please.
I wasn't asserting that there were other veils, it just seemed to make sense. As I've said before, there were 92 percent Moslem students, and a quarter of the staff. I find it difficult to believe that
a) the students had never encountered a veil before
b) there were no other veil-wearing people there
Well, the BBC article you reference states that she was asked to remove her veil because the kids couldn't hear her, not that it was the reason she was sacked. In fact, they've not officially (i.e. in writing) given a reason for it, to my knowledge. Of course, if I'm wrong on that, I welcome correction.
Wrong about what? That the school has a high Moslem population?
why couldnt she just have a simple head scarf from the beginning ? I seen tonnes of musilm women wear head scarfs working in departmental stores etc etc
