Question for Noxlumous
Noxy, you have mentioned several times here that you have been to prison. Now we don't always agree but you come across as avery sensitive and understanding person, a fine debater and a general all round decent bloke. So I, and am sure others, was wondering about you experieneces inside and how it affected what you are now and of course what happenned for you to get there in the first place, abberation? perhaps, what would you do differently? Just ignore if you want to keep it private, I understand. AB ed, in news because I know he looks here.

I'm afraid Mustafa is a prize example of everything I was trying to explain about above and there's no way on earth that I'm getting drawn into some half witted dialogue with him about whose harder, I mean does that silly little rant perfectly underline, better than any words I could have used, exactly to what I'm referring? When I was growing up that sort of nonsense was everywhere. I'm 46, I couldn't give a toss how hard you are mate, it doesn't matter, move on and use your brain a bit or do you always want to feel like this?

Is this AB's version of the Jeremy Kyle show? Nox we have crossed swords several times, but this is nothing personal. Your talk about not locking up criminals and reverting to softly, softly, measures is unbridled rubbish. If people commit crimes then they deserve punishment. Not ASBO's or community service etc. Lock them up and make them do hard, hard time, so hard that the very thought of commiting another offence fills them with dread. You seem to have done well for yourself since prison, but you are the exception by a long way rather than the rule.
I agree with you johnny for serious crimes. Every time people deserve to go to jail, but honestly what's the point in sending some young lad to jail for doing something stupid like stealing something, so that he ends up a hardened career criminal bc you've put him in the nick. Give him a scare, take away his free time by all means, but create a criminal when all you have is a dozy kid in the first place, that just makes it all worse surely? Being in prison for all it's vile and horrible just makes you angry, dysfunctional and anti-social, it is not a deterrant in itself, that's what most people don't seem to appreciate. It distances you from a pleasant normality and makes violence and inhumanity more normal, that's why it's a dangerous practice to incarcerate people who at the end of the day are just average joe public.Save it for the really bad people. It's not that I think people shouldn't be punished for what they do, it's that I honestly believe that prison causes society more problems than it cures excepting serious offenders when it's clearly vital.
well done nox for being honest and I have to say I admire the fact that you have come on here and answered questions you didn't have to.You will always get people trying to stick the boot in on here, and I'm more than convinced you can handle it.You seem a very articulate guy who has come to terms with the past.A lot of people cant do that.It took prison and your great wife to get you back on your feet, but you did , and you're at a better advantage than a lot of people today. You have faced your demons, admitted your failings and you're living your life.I agree prison isn't the best place for some people, there's no rehabilitation for most.it was your wife, at the end of the day, from what you say, who saved you.Someone who understood and listened to you and didn't set conditions upon you. Most people aren't so lucky.well done, and if i offend any hard-men out there who dont like this 'jeremy kyle' stuff -tough!!

Well thanks for that bit of Jackanory, you utter prat. I was SENTENCED to seven years for GBH amongst other things but not murder or manslaughter. I have said that I am an ardent Republican and that is true. If you had a brain you would appreciate that there is no crime in being Catholic, that Sinn Fein is a legitimate organisation working for a democratically elected assembly in NI and that I never said I was IRA, nor would I ever. I did not flee my native country, I have no reason at all not to be there other than personal choice, (trying to keep my kids clear of prats like you), and am welcomed back by my community when I visit there which is many times per year.I do not hate the English, my wife is English, I have issues with the inclusion of NI in the UK but that in no way makes me hate the English, just some of their policies. I do not claim benefits of ANY sort, I am a property developer, I have car dealerships, financial advice institutions, other perfectly legal busines ventures and I don't "strong arm" for anyone, I have no need to and I find the degredation of the poor morally reprehensible ( most of my letting properties are let to organisations helping the vulnerable). Now is there anymore unfiounded mud you'd like to sling at me or are you done you pathetic muppet?

Nox
we have crossed swords on at least one AB occasion and, who knows perhaps on the "streets"?
You have shown why, after my 1st tour in West Belfast, we said that, we would be in PIRA if we'd been born in NI.
You epitomise the old adage that, "one mans terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"
Much respect my friend.
