I dont feel sorry for the parents. I feel sorry for the child. Who in their right mind would leave such a young child on their own in a hotel, regardless of checking on them every 30 mins.

in minutess you could die from smoke inhalation, it takes seconds for as child to eat or drink something poisonous, seconds for them to hurt themselves, cut themselevs and bleed to death in 30 mins.

I think it's outragious. Why leave the child in the room, while you have dinner. terrible. I have no sympathy. Poor child.

whilst i think it was an error of judgment to leave the children i still feel vast amounts of sympathy for the parents - this must be one of the worst possible feelings any parent could ever feel and nobody deserves that sort of pain no matter what - shame on you spaced
Whilst I agree that the decision to leave 3 children under 3 unattended even for a short time is very questionable, lets have some compassion for these parents and await the full facts of the case before we pass judgment on them. Meanwhile, lets just pray that the child turns up unharmed.
Spaced, you might want to read these posted earlier in B&S:

That's right spaced, becase everything that's printed is obviously true.... .

Why don't you get off your high horse and wait until more facts are released, as yet they haven't even confirmed that it is / was an abduction, I think it is bit too soon to be putting the parents in stocks when nobody even knows what happened yet.

natalie. Wether the girl was abducted, walk out of the room, or whatever, she should not have been left on her own.

End of story.
But we do know that a child was left alone by her parents and is now missing.

They'll regret their decision forever, whether the girl is found or not, but they were short sighted. Complete condemnation is a bit harsh though.

have you ever thought, natalie, that I have good reason to get on my "high horse"? That I too may have lost a child to abducters?

Why dont you think before making a comment, that some people may have a valid reason for being so passionate and expressing themeselves on a particular subject!
spaced - if you have experienced having a child abducted then I cannot begin to imagine what you went through. YOU can however, begin to imagine what these parents are now suffering and so I would have thought you were in a position to be compassionate and supportive.
And in defence of spaced she didn't actually suggest it was a definite abduction so, that it hasn't even been confirmd as an abduction yet, is an irrelevant point. Spaced was merely pointing out a number of things that could go wrong when you leave a three year old alone in an apartment and that it is therefore very irresponsible to do so. Which is true.

Like I said, I do actually feel for the parents too so would not completely condemn them, but it very much looks like they were not looking after their little girl.
I find it strange, when the company provided baby sitting service until 11.30pm. The french doors were left unlocked and yes the parents took it in turn to check on the children. Just what an oppotunist needs!!! Good luck to the family, please let her return..
i feel so sorry for the children,i still cant get over how the parents could leave their children in a the room alone,i dont care if they say it was locked that is no excuse at all, they should have been out with the children or have stayed in with them, they say it was only 40 yards away i dont care, they shouldnt have left them in the first place, why oh why i dont understand im just hoping they find that poor little girl
its a terrible story. i feel for the parents. we still dont know the full story.
no we dont but their children shouldnt have been left there in the first place
I think it was a stupid thing to do in a strange country, but just think what those parents must be going through, i can not even imagine what it must be like, i pray to God that the child is found safe and sound, no parent should have this happen to them, i have lots of sympathy with the parents.
It reminds me of missing Ben, in Greece many years ago.
I know many parents who book their holidays on the basis that there is a 'kids club' all day, and baby listening service all evening.

I wouldn't use these services - but a lot of families do, without any trouble whatsoever.

Was there a baby listening service at this hotel?
No not a baby listening service. There was an evening baby sitting area until 23.30 where parents could drop off children and collect them. Maybe bothersome with three tinyones, but oh so much safer.
Just seen this on the website:

For those parents wishing to dine at alternative restaurants in the village, babysitting is available on request at additional charge.
yes Ben Needham, who disappeared in 1991.

This missing little girl, I truly hope she turns up safe and well, and unharmed. I would not leave my children alone either. And I now expect her parents are regretting that they did. I hope she turns up soon.
the parents made a grave error of judgement im afraid it only takes half a minute to lose sight oif a child the tragic case of little jamie bulger springs to mind and he was literally snatched from under his mothers nose whilst out shopping.although there must be some sympathy shown to the parents we must just hope that the little one turns up safe and sound they will surely never forgive themselves if she doesnt.
