Black on Black. Community.
Two terms that puzzle and enrage me.
What is Black on Black ? Is it when black people commit crimes against other black people ? Why does it get a special category of its own. Why not Asian on Asian, or White on White ? (Black on White doesn't exist by the way)
Just rustle up that magical word 'community' which covers all ills. Shooting ? Stabbing ? Oh we need to understand the community better.

There's a special Met Police task force to tackle black-on-black crime, called Operation Trident.
Black-on-black crime is a specific problem in inner city areas.
Because in relative terms there's little Asian on Asian or Chinese on Chinese or Lithuanian on Lithuanian crime, there's no need for a special task for for these issues.
What is it that bothers you? The fact that there is black on black crime or that funds are being spent tackling it?

can not understand, or won't understand?
If SP1814 answer isn't sufficient to explain to you, you will find lots of information on the Internet that will answer your question if you genuinely are unsure as to the rational for a specialist response. However if you stance is you refuse to accept the validity of the reasons, well there isn't much anyone can do.

SP1814 only went as far to say that black on black crime was a specific problem in inner city areas. I dont see how this changes the procedure on how crime is combatted and cases are approached, handled or solved.
I am aware that in general the black community arent confident in the police force and would prefer to show allegiance to their community rather than to hand over criminals via giving evindence to the police.
I still dont get it, its not a case of 'me not wanting to'; that comment smacked of 'holier than thou'.

Black on black crime in inner city areas is most definitely a social phenomenon that requires its own task force, specifically the gang element that threatens to undermine the community.
As such it require specialists who are aware of the issues that surround the topic, in much the same way that we have specialists handling other criminal areas. Why does that not make sense?

I'm thinking that they will need an in depth knowledge of how to handle gang related turf wars which your average officer won't have to deal with, and also the politics and community structure.
I would view it in the same way as having a specialist drugs unit. Regular officers will come into contact with drug related crimes, just as regular officers will come into contact with some black on black crime. But for particularly serious or sensitive issues, you bring in the unit that knows the most about the history and procedure for the crime.

Sorry if it came across that way it wasn't intentional. It was reaction by me to recent spate of posts in News where there appears to be an attempt to deliberately provoke on the grounds or race or immigration. Most of them are not 'news' and often not a question. Therefore the poster doesn't want to know and doesn't want an answer.

I don't really have an opinion on whether Operation Trident should exsist.
But it makes sense to me that, as Supernick pointed out, this type of crime is different to others - in the same way as mafia killings are different to a 'normal' murder.
It therefore also makes sense that the best way of stopping that type of crime is to have people who understand it better.
