So the totally unfunny How Deep You Sink, Oily, has been suspended for 6 months from The One Show for pestering a female researcher on the programme. Off-air Carol Thatcher referred to a black tennis player as a golliwog and got the sack. How fair is that? I'd love an answer from the Commission for Racial Equality. Maybe they can explain how he got hired in the first place, because it can't have been for his humour.

The difference is simply that he apologised profusely and she didn't - end of.
She also was not sacked.

Because she had offended people on that show and would not appologise it was decided that she couldn't continue to work on that show.

She wasn't sacked from the BBC
She only upset Jo Brand who is one of the most PC people around: except when she's cussing and swearing during her stand up "routine". Two faced b!tch.
I think Jo Brand is quite funny when she is on quiz shows etc.,I find her stand up routine cringeworthy though!
No she's just the one you remember because it conforms to a stereotype.

Adrian Childs also complained as did some behind the camera people.

Let's not forget exactly what she actually said - because it 's often glossed over.

She said "At least he beat that Golliwog!"

The subtext of this was very much "Now were off- air it's OK to be mildly racist amoung ourselves isn't it?"

No Carol, it isn't
