/// Dr Dreger and her colleagues are concerned that medical attempts to prevent homosexuality will arise in the future if sexual orientation is found to be determined by human biology.///

/// 'Evidence that homosexual orientation is inborn, could very well lead to new means of pathologisation [treating it like a medical condition] and prevention,' they warned in a recent paper.///

andy -hughes....both of your replies have confused me and I am not sure that you have attended to the question.

Here is the scenario........a pill that is given during pregnancy, to all, pregnant women to suppress a theoretical homosexual gene.
All the progeny would be heterosexual.......so where is your "minority?"

You mentioned the quandary of telling you offspring that you had had the tablet to suppress homosexuality..........why would you need to tell them, as everyone would be heterosexual and so would your progeny?
Setting aside the religious arguments.........how would mankind have benefitted from my and 'my ilk' never having been born gay ?

How would *your* life have been affected ?
Sqad - i think you may have addressed your last post to me in error? The points you query do not relate to the points I made - can you check back and see with whom you wish to debate? I don't believe it is me on this aspect of the thread.
It wouldn´t to both questions.
Andy
<<<Why would anyone choose a life as a 'minority' in a society which fears and despises anything or anyone it does not understand and which does not comform to its own rigid rules of 'normality'. >>>>

Andy...as you say, I can´t find the second part as it must have been on the parallel similar thread. If my memory serves me you were making the point that it would not be easy task telling your offspring that a pill was taken to determine their sexual preference...........will try and look for it.
Butch..........no not ALL my answers relate to the question.

Am I a "twonk?"........probably.

Would all women be forced t take it........Yes.

Andy....pleas accept my apologies, the second one was from chuckfickens.....apologies.

<<<<Just wondering here, but AOG, how would you have felt if at the age of about 20odd you got told by your parents "oh we made sure we got you genetically changed before birth to suit what we thought was correct"<<<<
Butch....I am usually in the minority.............but so was Charles Darwin for a decade or so.
Gay people are a minority. You can't catch it, pass it on or teach it. So I don't understand the problem.

Granted, no one would chose for their child to be gay but does it really matter? A minority will have no effect on our species.....

I wouldn't be happy if one of my kids told me they were gay but that's because I've seen the struggle a few of my family members have been through.

Live and let live...
What will be the difference between a world populated solely by heterosexuals and the way it is now ?
Nothing Jack....

ummmm....I agree with all that you have said, but my point is and has always been, if there is a gay gene, how would mankind benefit.

If the answer was mankind wouldn´t benefit, then why have a gay gene.

Now if a "gay gene" was present at the "inception" of life, over 60millon years ago, then the race would have been wiped out in one generation......not very helpful.

So if there IS q gay gene, it would have been disastrous.
JTh....no difference.
Absolutely no problem Squad - thanks for your prompt response.
Not would have....could have.

Things in nature have never made sense. Being gay is not a new phenomenon. I believe it's always existed just it's always been in the minority.

We've always had gay people the same as we've always had infertile people...The earth hasn't suffered.
andy-hughes....it is very disarming being polite LOL
