Why celebrities come out
I would like to take this opportunity to address some rather ill-informed posts on the recent thread on the gay cricketer who came out.
Does it matter? Yes - it does, because gay kids need to have a variety of role models. It makes them feel better about themselves.
Why do gay people feel the need to announce their sexuality? Well, why do straight people do the same? Think about it! Every wedding you've ever been to ha been a declaration of heterosexuality. Every time a bloke picks up a copy of FHM and points out how much he fancies Cheryl Cole - isn't he shouting about his sexuality?
Please continue to raise questions on sexuality, but try to think before writing, because some posts come across as the product of extreme stupidity.

I've just read my original post, and I'm not sure what you mean when you say I'm being provocative...unless you're complimenting me on posting a question that has provoked debate.
Also (can't remember who referred to wet pipes), can someone clarify - if a woman's 'lady parts' are for expelling urine, babies and monthly womb lining, does the act of cunnilingus rank alongside anal sex?
Cogitate on that whilst I sit back in awe that I've managed to get nearly 350 posts on my 'provocative' post.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the word queer has become synonymous with homosexuality? Looking at the dictionary definitions has left me more than confused.
Queer: Deviating from the expected or normal; strange.
Odd or unconventional, as in behavior.
Of a questionable nature or character.
But on reflection, those definitions could well be be spot on. What do you think, Doc?

It's the same as the way the word 'gay' came to mean homosexual, as opposed to 'happy/frivolous' and 'straight' came to mean 'heterosexual' as opposed to 'extending continuously in the same direction'.
Language evolves.
And that, ladies and gentlemen is the three hundred and fiftieth post on this thread.
Let's now put it to bed.
