I would like to take this opportunity to address some rather ill-informed posts on the recent thread on the gay cricketer who came out.

Does it matter? Yes - it does, because gay kids need to have a variety of role models. It makes them feel better about themselves.

Why do gay people feel the need to announce their sexuality? Well, why do straight people do the same? Think about it! Every wedding you've ever been to ha been a declaration of heterosexuality. Every time a bloke picks up a copy of FHM and points out how much he fancies Cheryl Cole - isn't he shouting about his sexuality?

Please continue to raise questions on sexuality, but try to think before writing, because some posts come across as the product of extreme stupidity.

^^^ which was my point in that they choose not to come out to reap the rewards of being perceived as obtainable by a female audience. Have their cake and eat it so to speak.

And the reason people are afraid to come out is in eyethenkyew's post above. If it remains there which, hopefully, given the homophobic invective in it, it won't
i agree sp,
i doubt he just went to the paper and told them...he will have been asked many times, discussed with family an friends, moaned at even and eventually his manager who will also have had questions will have suggested its time to tell the truth

they say who cares? well a lot of people clearly do given the amount of gossip mags, websites etc there are.

you may not care, but you are hardly everyone are you...

But the point is - the whole world isn't and never will be gay. So doesn't that make your point moot?

Also, I'd suggest that the language you use might lead some people to think you're an ill-educated jerk, and I am SURE that's not the case, but some might think that.
I think that.
Well said mighty wease :D
eyethenkyou- so homophobic how can u call gay people such names, define normal ? if you can define normality if you can prove God didnt create a homosexual fine then you preach your homophobic garbage. Just because your not attracted to men why should others not be or be penilised because of your views.
If God created man and woman who says there cant be some that are atracted to the same sex. The human race shouldnt survive if there are homophobic nasty bullying people like you! Thats not a world/ religion i would want to be part of!
xD
I totally agree with your OP sp1814.
For centuries homosexuals have been persecuted and it's only recently that we've started coming down out of the trees about it.
There is STILL a stigma attached to it no matter how loudly people protest how it is now accepted and 'not an issue' - times are better than they were but we're not there yet.
I fint it totally understandable why people feel a need to 'come out'.
He's here again...........picturing hairy ar$es............have you considered therapy, ETY ?
I suspect Ducky considers the Bible the only necessary education!
he's at it again!! ETY can you think of gay men without thinking about what they get up to between the sheets!?
Cheryl Cole's attractive but a bit too textbook for me, the type one probably 'should' fancy.
jack, have ety and joeluke ever been seen in the same room together?

(Not saying they'd fancy each other or anything, obviously.)
ETK reported for being a pr1ck.
I don't fancy women but I'm pretty sure that, if I did, it wouldn't be Cheryl Cole. she still looks like she'd be more at home in a shell suit.
...I've also suggested that the pudding be banned as he keeps persisting with this moronic prejudiced rubbish.
"if it remains..............which hopefully it wont..."

Oh, dear, oh, dear, free speech thy name is not some of the intolerants on here, that's for sure!

I happen to disagree with a load of what's on here....so what? That's what it's all about. Sorry if we don't live in a little, sanitised and Utopian world where we all have to toe the Party line and vote the same way!

All of you are perfectly entitled to post whatever you do, as am I. I'm not going to go bleating about it because I may find your dross distasteful - so what? I live in what's meant to be a democracy - the U.K. - well it used to be!
I wouldn't like to see Ducky banned - who would challenge his prejudice(reinforced by Daily Mail reading)then?
There's a distinct difference between 'free speech' and just being plain offensive, duckboy.

I was about to ask everyone NOT to report your post from earlier this evening, because I think it highlights why some gay men choose not to come out.

Unfortunately and understandably, it's gone.
Well done to the invertebrate(s) who had a whine about my post to have it removed. That's right, stifle free speech just because you contrive to , obviously, feel "offended".

I get offended as well about certain things, but God help us if it prevents someone giving an honest opinion. The "sanitised of thought faction" is at work on AB, and sadly, the Ed, or whoever, has also shown bias against my comments.

'Tis a sad day indeed when honest answers and responses are removed at the behest of the moral high ground mob.
