What type of quiz smartowl? Is it cryptic or general knowledge? What is the prize fund and how will it be distributed? Will it ultimately depend on a tie break, or lottery situation?
A quiz is a quiz to me but as a matter of interest how will money stop it being built
It may be legal costs Smouse, I think you need to get independent reports done to fight this type of case.

Sorry to took so long to reply, had an operation on my shoulder Friday! Firstly, the quiz is cryptic clues to 80 birds. Prize fund £25.00 & £10.00. We have to raise £68,000 for lawyer's fees to oppose the appeal in August. We are up to £55,000 and really need every £1 we can get. We live in Kimbolton, check out Kimbolton castle and you will see just how beautiful it is here. The castle was the last home of Katherine of Aragon.

I'm not against wind farms in general but may I put it in perspective. We are a small, very rural village set in rolling countryside with an historic castle, a Norman church and 42 listed buildings. We attract tourists - mainly for the castle - and a wind farm would really spoil the skyline. Call me a NIMBY by all means but it would be really detrimental to the area if 4 wind turbines were erected here.
Hi, We had some trouble with our entry money not arriving. Hope you can reassure that our second try arrived successfully?

Can only guess what happened to our first £1..............? Was the envelope intact when received? It's really bugging me, because I know I put it in the envelope..........actually stuck it to a piece of card to make sure!...... I know this for definite, because I've never entered a quiz that required £1 without a name to write a cheque before.

Anyway, great quiz, excellent questions! We are really enjoying it.

Can you just confirm that our money was, in fact, received eventually?

Thanks :-)
Only just spotted this quiz. Could you let me know the date it is due in by please then I can send for one if there is still plenty of time. Thanks
Closing date is 30th September Kustard, so plenty of time! It's a very good quiz too, so do go ahead. :-)
Who should we make the cheque out to please?
Good question Granny Grump! lol
I sent a £1 coin in the post (it didn't arrive!).......tried again and hope it arrived the second time!
The quizsetter was kind enough to send me the quiz anyway, so I do hope they finally received my entry fee.
thank you nilesquimby
going to send for quiz .wishing you all the best in your fight to stop the wind farm .Were having problems in Mid walesand shropshire with new wind farms ,Hub stations and extra large pylons some of which might go through our farm if our route is choosen .we have a strong group of people organising meetings etc ,im going to a planning meeting on wednesday they hope to get around 2,000 people there .so keep fighting people power can work
Also thanks from me Niles. I will send for the quiz but would rather send a cheque cos I've had too many things go missing in the post "with interesting feeling things" in them.
I have posted an FAO to smartowl on this issue, let us hope they see it.
I finally disguised my coin within two small sheets of cardboard, Kustard! Couldn't think of a better plan!

Hope it worked!

Good luck with the quiz :-)
I used to do the same, Niles, but still several went missing. I send cheques now.
Thanks again Niles BUT THE POST ROBBERS WILL NOT BE FOOLED! I sent an M&S gift voucher to my friend inside her birthday card and all she got was the front of the envelope with the address and stamp on - no card or voucher either. Why did they bother sending that, do you think? I'm digressing amn't I?? I am definitely sending for the quiz. By the time I get it you will be able to tell me the answers.
Oh my goodness! This is awful, isn't it? I must say when I sent my first £1 I was dubious...............really now hoping that my "disguised" £1 fooled the looters. Fingers crossed that it did. :-(
I almost always send coins and rarely get them taken but as one already has to this destination it has made me dubious.
I suppose it depends on the sorting office Mamyalynne? Letters go through many hands before arriving at their final destination.

All in all, a name to write a cheque to is a MUST when setting a quiz, I think.

Still hoping that my second £1 arrived safe, but not holding my breath!
