I know it's pretty late but if any 'G' fans are still about and would like to swap or confirm I'd love to hear from you - I've gathered as many as I can, but have come to a halt S

Thanks atoach, I now have answer for " W " thanks to your lead, but still struggling with " T " .... have found Tod and Ramsay but cannot see solution. Perhaps it's the late hour?
Also still looking for " V ", perhaps I will think more clearly in the morning?
Tod is what I have.
The 6-letter word is not Ramsay; it's a Scottish variant on the name Laurence.
The first word of the V clue is also the name of a fashion magazine.
(I hope my answers are right after all this!)
Thanks again atoach, I'm getting there (slowly) have found French phrase, but floundering on last one " T " .
You've found (Allan) Ramsay, author of "The Gentle Shepherd"; the name Tod ?????? appears in this play.

Investigating I see there are two different spellings for this word.

Thanks atoach, I have now come up with Tod Lowrie.

Perhaps I am being particularly slow-witted on this one, as I still find it difficult to see a definite link with the clue, although of course appreciating that Reynard = fox = tod !

Prior to your valued assistance I had thought perhaps
" The Matrix" was the answer as both Laurence and Reynard are involved in different fields of this title.

Good morning sarumite - I'm sorry I missed out on last night's activity and assistance - I'll just have to move time zones !!

I guess by now you have finished 'gathering' - I've got most but still having trouble with the other T - a mirror - is it something
- glass or am I on the wrong track again ?

Also the chintz is proving tricky [K] and one of the [R] the back band, so if you happen to check in again, I'd be grateful for any hints - hope to catch up soon Steff
Good morning Generalistos

For the T clue I have "glass" linked to a msall room where you may well use a mirror and the R word appeared in a previous Generalist puzzle, defined as stubborn or unyielding (there was some confusion as to the correct spelling)

I am having difficulties with the K that means chintz

sorry that should read " small"

thanks JRB for the T answer, and I'll check back with previous puzzles to try to find the R

having no luck with the chintz - found some russian material but too many letters = back to the drawing board again !!
Hi Steff and JRB ... I have been away from site shopping for the morning but will now catch up.

For the first " T " I have Toilet Table, but did think it may well be Toilet Glass.

For the " R " clue I don't recall the previous Generalist puzzle, as this is only the third time I've taken part.
I have put Ridgeband but it is possible that it could be Ridgerope!

I have Kalamkari for the chintz.

Any thoughts on the above most welcome. ☺
For T?????-glass I had what I think JRB is suggesting at first, but I couldn't it enter it into the grid. I now have changed it to something else that I think is right, and that definitely fits - but it is the one clue that I am not sure of.

Looking at Chamber's dictionary - which I didn't have last night - Tod Lowrie is in, with the definition ... Laurence Reynard! I had Tod Lawrie, which I will now change
Why did I not check Tod Lowrie in Chambers myself ? Have done so now .. thanks atoach ... is my toilet table ok?
Question Author

I've quickly checked previous puzzles starting with March but can't see the R possibilty.

Thanks for the chintz sarumite, that was giving me the horrors.
I liked the Toilet glass answer but atoach seems to have a problem - is the 'glass' part correct ?
I found "toilet glass" defined as "a looking glass for a dressing table or dressing room"

The R word is RIGWIDDIE (I think) There is another spelling "rigwoodie" but again my faithful dictionary defines rigwiddie as "the chain which crosses the back of a horse to hold up the shafts of a cart (rig = back, withy = twig.) "
I've put it all together and toilet glass, my first choice, did not fit. I have found (Something else)-glass that I think is right. It is in my old friend Chamber's, but not an entry in itself, under its "root word " (and even there the definition is not given explicitly)
Thanks JRB, Chambers shows both spellings as
" (Scot) a cart-horses back-band ", so it will be a question of which one fits the grid.
Question Author

don't trust me if I've said I've read it - my speed reading leaves much to be desired - the clue was In Scotland, lean and tough
and the answer Rigwiddie, so that might clear that up

OK apart from those I have two more to find and would appreciate your help so I can turn in for the night and be all bright -eyed etc for my local quiz tomorrow morning -
E the animal living on the surface of another and P take a walk, Spanish style - I have a feeling this is something like pasedo but can't find it please help Steff
Question Author

atoach - re the T????? - glass I have a weird feeling which I can't find anywhere that the answer might have something to do with rendered fat - are you working along the same lines or am I off with the pixies again !!
Question Author

Sorry gang, must head off for the night, the old gal is starting to act up and I don't mean me !!

Perhaps there'll be some nice surprises for me in the morning - night all, and thanks Steff
Steff for " E " I have EPIZOIC, and for " P " PASEAR ", hope these are both correct (S).
