Firstly, a big thank you from me to Strix for stepping in at short notice to set the links this month. Some of you will have cause to thank him as well when you see the scores below, but others may still be cursing the deviousness of his nebulous mind.

I will also say a warm welcome to new player Boxtops who joined us this week.
And I thought we had another newbie called Charkey but it turned out to be Ont-ice in disguise - Cheeky!

I can now reveal that 'Strix the horologist' was looking for the following links:

Spring ONION
MARCH forward
WIND fall
Back ACHE

Some proved to be more popular than others - Read on to see how everyone fared.

No doubt remembering last week's 'vegetable garden' theme, the second player, Grenmus, grabbed the first points for SPRING ONION, Dustybun and Paulineward were also quick on the uptake for 2 points each.

Player number 3, tearinghair, picked up on the fact that this is the month of MARCH. So also did Patchett, Jan1956 and Seekeerz - well done for 2 points.

We obviously have several long-suffering Linkes who immediately called their doctor with BACK ACHE. Aquagility, Grannydi and Lysander were first at just 9:03 to claim their two points.

Who says Strix' links are hard to guess? Not Cliffyg, who clocked in at just 9:07 to collect a WINDFALL of 3 points for the last link and a single back ache.

This weekend was slim pickings for multiple matches with just 3 double-hitters. As already noted, Cliffyg was one of them, the other two later claimants, for 2 points each, were Middlestump and Teacher1.

Five others picked up just a single point.

I have therefore selected Cliffyg as
*** HOTSHOT OF THE WEEK ***
*** Congratulations CLIFFYG ***

So what does all that do to the Leaderboard?

The abacus has been put hard to work calculating the final positions for March. I even enlisted Napier's bones as a double-check and came up with the following:

On 10 points and just holding on to her lead is Jan1956.
*** CONGRATULATIONS JAN ***
*** Top Scorer - March 2010 ***

9 points: seekeerz
8 points: Grenmus
7 points: miss meg
6 points: Dustybun, tearinghair, x-ray
5 points: lysander, cliffyg, wickedtongue
4 points: ulysses100, rockfordill, Aquagility, teacher1, beejay1124, deecee131
3 points: 5 players
2 points: 7 players
1 point: 10 players
Leaving just 8 players on 0 points.

That just leaves one thing to be decided - Who will take the honour of being selected as setter for APRIL?

. . . but that announcement will not be coming from me as I have it on reliable authority that Crofter is lurking in the shadows and will shortly do that himself.

Over to you Crofter.

I must begin by thanking gen2 for filling in for me at such short notice and teaming up with my good friend Strix to keep the MM Links Game going in my absence. There can be little doubt over the commitment and dedication shown by all participants ~ year in year out!

As for the League Table (above) you all look as though you have had a busy time! The Table reads like a “Who’s Who” in the Kingdom of MM Links ~ and congratulations go especially to cliffyg (for this week’s honours) and jan1956 (for a sustained effort over the entire month).

As for the wearer of the April crown, I note that many of the leaders have been champions over 2009. However, in view of her incredible feat of reaching double figures and the fact that she has not been champion for some time, I have no hesitation in nominating jan1956 as our next second-reign Super-Champion!
Congratulations to Jan and Cliffy and, of course, thanks to Strix and Gen.
This particular piece of wood needs to try harder :-)
