In the previous two weeks of the reign of “King John” (aka rockfordill): setter of the MM Links, we have seen two sides of his personality as provider of both the Famine and the Feast (in terms of points scored). How will he shape up this week when I have asked him to tell us how he has spent his free time? As things currently stand, we have quite a few bright sparks leading a strong field ~ and remember that there are FIVE weeks in July in order to determine this month’s winner of the honour of setting the MM Links throughout the month of August.

As usual, the plan is to launch the site on AB tomorrow at 08.45am and post the four words to be linked at 9.00am, when MM Links kicks off in earnest. Don’t forget ~ early MM hits gain bonus points! Of course, you should also look out for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at a very early hour (which is difficult to predict precisely). Consequently, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register.

The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from The Land of Oz and goes by the name of “seekeerz”. I honestly believe that MM Links are usually more difficult to predict, but many players take part in both games ~ so why not chance your arm at both Link Games? They remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards.

Until I see you tomorrow, may I wish you ~ “Happy Linking”!

:o)
I like the avatar crofter!
Like your 'wee but and ben' crofter - not so much an avatar as av-a-drop-afore ye-leave!
Oh very nice, crofter - worth waiting for! Have you been watching the battle for the Claret Jug, Twix123? I was pleased to see that the weather conditions have evened it out a bit - the early starters must have been laughing yesterday. Not today, I think!
good to see the old homestead crofter
been a bit damp here of late hope the shrubbery is dry
Hi Tearinghair, naturally I've been watching The Open, after fighting the elements round a links style course earlier today. At least next year The Open is at Royal St. Georges therefore I'll be able to nip down there for a few days watching live, although from past experience the practice days can be very entertaining!
The venues are all too far away for me to get there easily without an overnight stay. Now if it happened to be at The Belfry.....
Ah, but you had quite a few Ryder Cups instead before they started using different European venues!
Evening all...love the avatar Crofter.
It's been quite a wet week up here...and a hosepipe ban! Can you believe that in Manchester?
Evening Pauline,

The sun is shining in Kent, not a lot of rain this last few weeks but we can use as much water as we like, although usually we are the first to get a hosepipe ban.
Miss Strix student flat at St A's (3 bedroom) that she shares with two others has been let (student summer hols) by the owner (not us, sadly!) for the one week of the golf for:
Take a very deep breath
Yes, believe it or not:
£7,000.00
Yes - Seven Thousand Pounds!!
Blimey Strix!! People will actually pay that as well I presume!
That's cheap Strix, some houses cost a far lot more, especially if rented out to the players. One house beside the 18th fairway used to go for about £25,000 but was sold a few years ago for millions.
Very true, Twix, but unfortunately I didn't manage to get there at the time; it's only since I retired that I've been able to see live golf. And now they've stopped the English Open I can't go to that either. For next year I've promised myself a trip to Wentworth in May.
Seven THOUSAND, Strix? Americans or Japanese, perhaps?
Wish they were held near us...I would kick the kids out and do B&B!!
The British Open is coming to Sandwich next year, they have been advertising for accommodation for some time now. If I had the nerve I would go away for a few days and let my house - but they'd have to feed my cats as part of the deal, and the cats wouldn't like that....
Hi boxtops...why don't you take paying guests...and then you could keep an eye on things and make a mint! :-))
It's a thought, pauline, but I am a lousy housekeeper.... I don't know that I'd like strangers in my attic.
Depends how much they are willing to pay! :-))
I know what you mean though...
Pauline, Miss Strix shared flat is on the first floor in a terrace - so nothing particularly grand but they had nil problems in letting it at that price - in fact the owners could have probably have let it for more if they had known the degree of interest.
The owner is the mother of one of Miss Strix flatmates and the mother only bought it for the time that her daughter is a student at St A's.
Maybe, after this week, she might reconsider selling it after her daughter has graduated?!!
