The Club is now Open.
Good evening and welcome everyone.
How pleasant it is to be back in one's own home after the recent flurry of social activity.
I do hope all went well in our absence ?
The recycling bin did seem a tad full this week, but I expect all that glass came from the Home next door. They are rather an unruly lot there.
I believe that there is a Rollover Raffle tonight, so buy your tickets often and early.
Unfortunately tonight's speaker , the well known clairvoyant Miss T Ickmeg, has had to cancel due to a mouldy ball. If any members have 'the gift' , could they please make their way to the upper lesser hall where we will be happy to receive them.

Lady Alex, as it is World book night perhaps you could tell us if you have anything of interest in your library? It has been locked each time I have stumbled against the door.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have been unable to access the library, Daisy. They key is kept on the upper smaller hook in the kitchen at the back of the Aga. I thought everyone knew that.
We have a range of interesting volumes which include:
The pile in the desert by Mustapha Kaka
The great flood of China by I P Squint
and my personal favourite
Sliding down the bannister by R Stornoway

Hey, everyone. Sorry I am late, but better late than never. Who was that said never would be better. I heard that. I know I am a bit deaf but I am wearing my hearing aid tonight so whoever it was had better watch it. I am good at boxing ears. I am well known for making heads ring. I have been grubbing about in the attic and I have discovered this lovely old cigarette holder, very 1930's. It is in its own case and although it looks a bit, well, old, it must be a genuine antique and as such worth a great deal of money on eBay. For the ruffle of course, goes without saying. Where's alex? Alex dear, (whispers behind hand) I didn't think ladyalex would find out about the missing drinks as quickly as that. Didn't you manage to get rid of the evidence? Anyway, it wasn't me, I only had a few Baileys. It was that new gamekeeper.
As you are a lady wouldn't "The Lady" be more in your line of reading than "People's Friend". It sounds very bourgeois and if you're not careful that Lenin will be trying to creep in again. He's been making a nuisance of himself banging at the front gate. We tried to pull the drawbridge up but someone's not been oiling the hinges. Better watch the servants entrance. The servants are trying to repel boarders but not being very successful, even though they are repellant. Too busy trying to smuggle goods out (whispers to Alex) we can blame the missing drinks on them.
