Most (Pikeys) have irish accents but this does not mean they were born in ireland as most gypsies travel between the UK and Ireland so alot live in the Uk and are born here

Nah that is one thing I have to disagree on you with Sam. Its the people that think all irish gypsies are scum that gives romany gypsies a bad name. Some are decent people others are t0ssers. Its like all different groups. The saying goes never tar a person with the same brush doesnt it? Just like there are nice Chavs, bad chavs. Nice Romanys/not so nice Romanys. My ex husband's great Grandmother was a gypsy, she married at 16 and gave birth to his Mum in 1884, his Mum used to say she visited her grandfather, Fighting Zacky Lee who was the son of Rose Boswell, who was the Queen of the Gypsies. Thanks to the Travellers family History Society i was able to find out lots about the 19th century gypsy families and it mage interesting reading.

WIthout evidence, it is hard to take your statement at all seriously.

It reads (at best) like a Daily Mail editorial and at worst is pure bigotry.

From your other contributions on other questions on other days I know that you are normally a sane and tolerant person, stylinsam... so why not on this occasion?

It is a sweeping statement, you can't back it up and it is pure intolerance or ignorance that makes you repeat it.

Try the following statement for comparison purposes:

Sam, we aren't saying that it's right that your friend is persecuted because he has Romany blood.

To be honest Sam, no, there's no point you carrying on this argument without proof to back up your theory.

not quite sure what you want from us- yes we agree it's bad that your friend is ridiculed for his ethnic background, however we don't agree with your sweeping statement that all Irish gypsies are bad (for want of a better word)

gone are the days of the hard working honest 'Romany' travelling from village to village in their brightly painted wagons. Obviously with exceptions they are now more viewed as non-tax paying dishonest charachters with little or no regard to peoples property who leave behind a trail of destruction and mess and expensive legal proceedings footed by the tax payer.
