I will happily believe in any god when you can give me even the tiniest shred of prove of their existence.
They have proof!!

Its written in the Bible, the Bible says its true, is that not proof enough? :)
And the Bible was written by God, proving its unquestionalble reliability.
God is explained in the Bible proving the existence of God.

Looks like someone's record has got stuck.

If you would like to see the predictions made in the nineties by the head of our community regarding the present economic crisis in Europe, you are invited to read:

http://www.alislam.or...s/universal/index.htm

It is an example of predictions made on knowledge coming from God. No economist was predicting such calamities back then, for lack of foresight.
Jkhan, predictions are easy anyone can do them and be proven right..Let's see ..In the next decade there will be an economic recovery followed by a depression. In the next year there will be catastrophic floods in asia and drought in africa. There will be a big earthquake in south america. A ferry will sink in the phillipines killing many passengers. The price of oil will go up and then down. How many do I have to get right to be the voice of god? one or all?
JKhan, I haven't read your link, but I will tomorrow. I'll ask again. How can you be sure this information comes from God?
If there is it must be some sort of weirdo
@naomi24: When you receive a letter signed by a friend of yours, you know who it's from. Anyone could ask you: How can you be sure it's from your friend? It might be someone else. However, you know, from the content and the style, who it is from. Also, the person tells you their identity.

So, when information comes from God, He often tells you who it is coming from. And the style and content show that it is from God.

People pooh-pooh the idea, and think they too can make predictions, out of their head. A few might come true by sheer coincidence. In the case of a person receiving information form God, on the other hand, things foretold come true consistently, one after the other, and this is what removes the possibility of coincidence.

I highly recommend you read the lecture that I gave the link for. And here is the link to the book "Tadhkirah", the collection of dreams, visions and verbal revelations received by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, in India, who founded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:

http://www.alislam.or...y/books/Tadhkirah.pdf

It shows vividly how the phenomenon of divine revelation occurs with regularity in the case of highly spiritual individuals. I hope you find it interesting.
JKhan, //when information comes from God, He often tells you who it is coming from. And the style and content show that it is from God. //

Funny how Mohammed was allegedly hoodwinked then.
JKhan, I tried to read that but it was so full of crap I tired quickly!!

I guarantee if I had read it chapter and verse I would have formed the same opinion.

Even a blind squirrel will find the odd nut!
@naomi24: This story of Muhammad being "hoodwinked" is a concoction made to discredit him. It has since long been debunked even by non-Muslim scholars. Yet, fundamentalist Christians continue to spew out the same lies about it, as it suits their agenda, which is to turn people away from Islam by hook or by crook.

@ratter15: You should show some patience while studying something which is not your usual read. Also, there is no need to use disrespectful words. I do not remember having used any against anyone here. Elementary politeness is one of the first lessons I have taught my children at home. Disrespect contributes nothing to the discussion, and is also hurtful.
Oh well! another sleepless night, worrying about thunderbolts!!
JKhan, //This story of Muhammad being "hoodwinked" is a concoction made to discredit him.//

Yes, of course it is. ;o)

The fact is, if anyone really wants to discredit Mohammed, the Koran provides ample ammunition.

I've looked at your link and whilst I admit to skipping over some of the 19 or so pages introducing this tale, I have read the first 20 odd pages of the book, which amount to the author relating a dream featuring a lot a fruit, copious amounts of dripping honey, and a shiningly beautiful Mohammed. I hope you will understand why I really cannot bring myself to read the subsequent 1300 plus pages.

Dreams and hallucinations do not constitute evidence - and less still proof. To argue religion one needs to employ reason, and since that is not a feature of religious dogma, the faithful have no reasoned argument to offer.

I wonder if Sith would ask the Ed to move this thread to R&S? It's about to become lost here in S&C.
lol, I'm glad I didn't afford it any more time than I did already :)
@naomi24: The book is full of dreams and revelations predicting the future and which came true again and again. You can refuse to accept this as proof and call them hallucinations if you wish. Personally, if I experience 50 so-called "hallucinations" in which I am informed in advance of the contents of an important letter about to arrive, or of a question that will appear in an important examination, or of the person I will eventually marry, or of some imminent calamity so that I have the time to escape and avoid it, I would be very happy to receive such information, which I know for a fact does not come from my own mind, for I cannot foretell such things as a mere human being.

Hopefully, one day you too will be blessed with such dreams and visions, and then you will know first-hand of the reality of God. You cannot analyse God no more than you can hear the smell of a rose or taste radio-waves. You will have to use your spiritual senses to reach God.

It is sad that a person expressing a sincere reality that he is living in, is met with nothing but ridicule by people on this thread. God has enriched my life and blessed me with feelings of love and respect for all human beings. If being an atheist or agnostic entails being one who ridicules others and is impolite to them, then I would much prefer to remain devoted to God. To this day, I have not found a single atheist who could offer me anything to make my life more meaningful, or who could turn me into a nicer, more respectful, more tolerant person. Quite the opposite, in fact.

May you all find peace and happiness; and may we all learn to respect and love each other, and treat each other as we would like to be treated.
JKhan, Some would say the same of Nostradamus, Jeanne Dixon, Edgar Cayce, and a plethora of spiritualists and alleged 'seers', so where does that leave a seeker of truth?

I haven't ridiculed you and I haven't been impolite to you. I've simply doubted your claim. If you post your opinions here without proper evidence to support their veracity, then you must accept that those opinions will be challenged.

If you're interested in discussion, perhaps you would like to join us in Religion & Spirituality (a sub-section of Society & Culture) from now on?

naomi...there are muslim faith schools for adults...and a muslim faith school is a class. and i do not try to take you for a fool, however you do ask many pointless questions and do try to confuse people. :)
Sith, and you're still at it!

First you became a muslim when you were about 18, and (even though your parents are Christian) you claimed you went to a Muslim faith school, where you also studied subjects unrelated to religion;

...then you said you didn't go to a Muslim faith school, but you work part time in one now and went there also to learn more about Islam;

...then you said you learnt about Islam at a mosque - not quite sure if that was in a children's class or an adults class - you've mentioned both;

...and now you're implying that you go to a Muslim faith school for adults.

And you say I try to confuse people?

Decide which story you want to tell, Sith - then we might know what you're talking about.

If you tell me which questions I've asked that you think are pointless, I'll clarify my reasons for asking them.
sith, it really is time you gave up, the only thing you are convincing people of, is that you have no idea what you are talking about!
Question Author
ok.

"no, i have been to a muslim faith school and learnt those things, but we still learn the other normal things, that is the religious side, like when christians go to sunday school and what they learn there, its just like that."

when did i mention a child class here?

also i became a muslim when i was 18...so at that point you are entitled to go to adult classes to learn quran etc. yes, my parents were christian, but they accepted i wanted to be a muslim so they allowed me to go. also if you go to the mosque, you can help in the mosque with various things if you want, so sometimes i help out in a childs class. there you go i explained everything you have asked.
