But it would be nice if we could lead worry-free lives. However, the Bible says: “Man, born of woman, is short-lived and glutted with agitation.” (Job 14:1) Problems—and the worries that accompany them—are therefore a part of life. But if you let worries and anxieties dominate your thinking, you can do a lot of damage to yourself. The Bible warns: “Anxious care in the heart of a man is what will cause it to bow down.”—Proverbs 12:25.
I really don't care what the Bible says and I don't believe most of what the Bible says. Written by man to control people, which is exactly what Jehovah's Witnesses does.... control people!!!!
That what the Bible says, the days of our years are seventy years; and if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; for it must quickly pass by, and away we fly.”—Psalm 90:10.
Goodlife, //The psalmist David exclaimed: “Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah!//
That will be the same David who took a fancy to another man’s wife, did the dirty deed, and when she became pregnant had the husband killed. You do have a wonky sense of the righteous.
Naomi@ That shows what type of person you are, you pick out the bits and disregard the rest. Plus you don't really know or understand the Bible. If you did, you would know what happened to David. God is not cruel, if he were no one would be alive today, but he has given time and no one, not even you, can say you did not know.
Goodlife, I rather think it shows the type of person you are. One who will willingly overlook the most horrendous crimes against humanity solely to achieve his own ambition. What type of person would you say you are?
naomi;// She [Karen Armstrong] views all religion through rose coloured spectacles,...//
I'm reading her book 'The First Christian St Paul's impact on Christianity' which accompanied her Channel 4 programmes and is extremely well researched and critical where need be, I've read others of her books too, so I'd like to know where she has given a 'rose coloured spectacle' view of religion, and what exactly does it mean, - is it anything that doesn't correspond with your bleak outlook?
