How sad that the service to commemorate the victims of the Maamchester Arena atrocity, still failed to call out the true cause of this evil.
The Quran.
We learn nothing.
We refuse to stand up strong, and prefer to sing songs about coming together.
The youngest victim, Saffi Roussos, 8, lives on in my heart as a representative of all of the victims, and I think we betray their memories by continuing to deny the evil truth staring us in the face.
Don't look back in anger? I do, and I hope many others will too.

Shame the Buddhist monks weren't mentioned seeing as how Vietnam was mentioned. Nonetheless...
Ah, that's enough - but different? Let's use bollards on bridges by suicide terror group as a metric and see if we can arrive at an answer we all agree on.

The universal phenomenon of Islamic terrorism is important.
Much like bird flu and Ebola. It needs an explanation and a cure. Sad resignation like Sadiq Khan's "part and parcel of..." has spiritual precedent in religious history (and, for that matter, Watership Down).
Practical people who are a bit sipped off with it and want to see an end to it are not satisfied by facile comparisons to local nationalist movements like the IRA, EOKA or Mau-Mau.

North Korea awaits you - though of course Rocket man is its unquestionable deity, - there's no escape!
Actually the place which is considered - according to The Washington Post - to be the most irreligious in the World is Scandinavia. But the joke is that that journal and the Scandinavians don't appear realise that the Islamic world is well aware of this fact and is rapidly filling the vacuum with Sweden looking highly likely to become Europe's first Islamic country.
So it goes from being 'moderately religious', to 'non religious', to highly religious all in the space of a couple decades. A nice pied-à-terre in Europe, to be followed by where next, - France?
ChillDoubt; Be careful what you wish for. ;0)

Andy - "You do have to be a psychopath to be a terrorist" - I don't accept that at all. The definition of a psychopath (and they vary) are along the lines of "a person suffering from chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behaviour" "a person with a psychopathic personality, which manifests as amoral and antisocial behaviour, lack of ability to love or establish meaningful personal relationships, extreme egocentricity, failure to learn from experience, etc."
Many terrorists, including Islamic extremists, are totally passionate about their cause and will go to any lengths to promote it however many of them will have loving and caring relationships within their own lives and deep held values of their own.
It's almost as though you are saying Islamic terrorists are not carrying out atrocious attacks because of Islam but because they're nutcases who have 'tagged' onto a cause.

Passionate no doubt, but not necessarily knowledgeable, the 9/11 plane bombers turned out to be not very religious at all, and many copies of 'Islam for Dummies' have been found in former ISIS strongholds.

It's not 'almost what I'm saying...' - it's exactly what I'm saying.
No sane person murders and maims strangers who don't share their religious views, it's simply not rational behaviour.
You can be as fanatical as you like about anything - Islam, Stoke City, Tom Petty, the object of your fanaticism doesn't matter.
The fact that you feel the need to kill people who don't share your fanaticism means you have shifted into psychopathy.
