My point pixie is that it still is dubious to end up penalising even the, for want of a better word, "honest" transpeople for fear of people who hardly needed that excuse to be abusers or worse. It's sad that the default state seems to be one of cynicism or suspicion: that transwomen, in particular, are more likely than not to have a nefarious motive for their "choice" of identity.

Naomi, I suppose the answer to your question is related to the same reason you'd presumably not choose to walk into a men's room either. Even if nothing in particular is going to happen, you just feel uncomfortable.

Maybe the answer in the long term is to accept that most toilet spaces shouldn't really be separated into men's and women's facilities anyway, with single-user bathroom areas preferred where possible instead.

Your second paragraph answered your first one, Jim. Nobody is suggesting they are all predators, although by definition of being there, they are dishonest and disrespectful of female boundaries... but the "not all men" theory does not help when you can't tell which are and which aren't. As you say yourself- uncomfortable.

I have been in a ladies toilet when a trans has come in. They didn't pull their pants down and try to show me their penis or try and sexually assault me. 'She' said what a lovely skirt I had on I said thanks and that was that. This was at Whitby Goth week where people there just let people get on with how they want to be.
On the other hand transgenders being allowed into female prisons is utterly ridiculous. On Radio 4 last week a relative of someone who was in prison with Transgender Karen White said the girls had to have communal showers with this 'Woman' who still had a penis. That is utterly wrong.

YES!!! that is why children who wish to transition are given hormone treatment to DELAY physical puberty......to give them the thinking time that you and I agree is so important.

Woof yes and i don't think puberty should be delayed.. It's that which defines a persons thoughts and who they are.. If they are to start delaying puberty they may as well just transition because they've already started to mess with their natural clock

Have you done research on this or is it just pure conjecture on your part?

I have researched it, yes. I did Genetics, Sex and Gender as part of a degree hundreds of years ago, so I understood the basics and have researched it properly, including talking to a psychiatrist with my son in the last year or so. We were both really shocked by the pure viciousness and outrageous claims, so I kept an eye on it.
