When Jesus Christ was on earth, he gave his listeners a lesson in observing signs and acting accordingly. He was talking about something of far-reaching importance. The Bible reports: “The Pharisees and Sadducees approached him and, to tempt him, they asked him to display to them a sign from heaven. In reply he said to them: ‘When evening falls you are accustomed to say, “It will be fair weather, for the sky is fire-red”; and at morning, “It will be wintry, rainy weather today, for the sky is fire-red, but gloomy-looking.” You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but the signs of the times you cannot interpret.’”—Matthew 16:1-3

Theland, //I am left with the explanations in the bible which make sense and appeal to logic.
If you study ID what can you disagree with? //

The explanations in the bible can only possibly make some sort of sense if you overlook the bits that make it clear that your god was neither omnipotent nor omniscient - which is what you do. Given that, in your search for ‘the truth’, you determinedly - and quite illogically - ignore important clues, ‘logic’ has no place whatsoever in your argument.

There may have been a 'designer' - no one knows - but it wasn't that bloke.
Theland, you don't need to follow anything or anyone word for word, including science. Nobody has all the answers, so disagreeing with parts, doesn't wipe out all of it. We are all still learning.
Your "morals" there are debatable and nothing to do with a God.
Naomi - I only ask if you think there is a designer behind it all. Not a question about God.
Pixie - I don't quite follow that.
Dance - that was an answer to a question from Nailit.
Theland, I mean that nothing you have said, even hints at the existence of any gods. The post where you said science doesn't know everything, applies to religion even more- there is literally no proof of anything. And you personally believing it, is your choice, not proof.
As far as morals go, that might be better on a separate thread, but the opinions you have given are highly debatable, and irrelevant to any of this, anyway.
Theland, Unless it was a computer geek existing in another universe who’s created a game in which we are his entertainment, then no, I don’t think there’s a creator.

But really Theland, the existence of a creator - any creator - is not really what you’re pushing, so it’s really rather disingenuous to ask me that question. You think you know who or what it was don't you. Be honest now.
Being perfectly honest Nami, I believe it is YHWH the God of the Bible.
But that aside, the Discovery Innstitute although sharing my beliefs, exists to prove one thing only.
That there is an Intelligent Designer behind it all.
Belief in God is a step further than that.

(Bible has all the answers) //God exists whether you believe in Him or not//
The irony....)

Yes men lies plain before their eyes. As true Christians, we are called on to imitate Jesus in showing empathy. The Bible urges us to show “fellow feeling.” (1 Peter 3:8) It may not be easy to grasp the feelings of those suffering today especially if we have not gone through such pain ourselves.

Like I have said before all, are inclined to worship someone or something, even if it is to worship one’s own self. But the people who sourly says, “I do not worship anybody or anything!” is really a worshiper of himself. He makes himself a human god, but due to his “egotism” he is unaware of that fact. He prides himself in the presumptuous idea that he gives worship to nothing whether alive or lifeless.
Very true.
//Very true//
Why are you agreeing with someone who totally disagrees with everything that you believe about the Bible?
goodlife is a jehovahs witness and yet you will condemn him to hellfire for his beliefs while taking his post to prop up ur own.

While you assign goodlife to eternal hell (for not believing as you do) He will, in return, assign you to eternal death.

Meanwhile, as an atheist, am happy to say that I have no ***** idea what happens after death.

I wasnt able to attend my Brother in Laws funeral today. But as far as I am concerned, he's dead. If a LOVING God existed, I should have been able to attend.

Your God exists in your imagination only.
(Either that or he's an ass hole)

Ive had it with the self righteous nobs on here!
Go and preach to all the other simpetons who cant think for themselves.
Theland, theologically you and Goodlife are worlds apart but in your efforts to endorse your beliefs do you see what you - and Goodlife - did there? You joined forces and resorted to attacking those who disagree with you. Who is honest and who possesses strength of character? Not the needy religionist, that’s for sure.

Nailit, calm.
Incidentally, Goodlife says: // Like I have said before….//

… but he hasn’t said it before. Someone else said it before and Goodlife has simply copied and pasted it - again - from here:

Hell, has acquired another image in your thinking, because your Bible knowledge is nil, to that thinking, but that same with all Atheist

The true God (Jehovah) who regards mankind in that way would not approve of torturing persons in this life or in any life to come. The Bible contains no such teaching.

“Do not two sparrows sell for a coin of small value? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore have no fear: you are worth more than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31:

So God who regards mankind in that way would not approve of torturing persons in this life or in any life to come.

But the Bible states that God will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18) There can be no question about it. The sign in all its parts is being fulfilled, including you.
Is there any evidence that an entity claimed to exist but not shown to, has any knowledge of sparrows falling to the ground ? Or who have numbered the hairs on anyone's head ? Or it it all just claims without backup ?

Any myth that the bible may describe has no relevance to the present reality unless one can prove rather than simply claim it.
"Nailit was strolling along the road minding his own business.
Suddenly he was abducted and bundled into a car and driven to an isolated church.
Inside, he was preached at by numerous believers until his head swam.
Then he was bundled back into the car and unceremoniously dumped on the streets.
He fled to Answerbank to complain about being preached at, and why not?"

Episode two coming shortly.
Goodlife 16:23
"So God who regards mankind in that way would not approve of torturing persons in this life or in any life to come.

But the Bible states that God will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18) There can be no question about it. The sign in all its parts is being fulfilled, including you."

Don't you see a contradiction between those two paragraphs?
All humans are ruining the earth. It makes you wonder why God created an animal with so much intelligence and no sense. Was he having an off day?
We were doing OK until that silly woman ate the apple.
