When Jesus Christ was on earth, he gave his listeners a lesson in observing signs and acting accordingly. He was talking about something of far-reaching importance. The Bible reports: “The Pharisees and Sadducees approached him and, to tempt him, they asked him to display to them a sign from heaven. Khandro, all philosophy starts from scratch. Presumably you don't believe something, just because somebody else said it- however long ago?
And, although you weren't asking me directly.... as an atheist, I am not the slightest bit obsessed or even interested in any gods. Only in people, because they are real. Whenever somebody posts something particularly irrational, nonsensical, or just unknown or unproven, I am interested in why they choose to believe it. It doesn't matter what the subject is at all... just why are people so illogical?

goodlife; Thank you, I asked because the other evening as a respite from the coronavirus we were watching an episode of 'Valhalla Murders' on Netfix, (don't bother really) & part of the plot took place at a funeral service in an ultra-modern looking church in Iceland & the pastor, during a eulogy spoke of, coming to confession, I wondered what sort of church it was & if it was JW, but it may, now you say, have been Mormon, or maybe Iceland has its own denomination, it definitely wasn't RC.

I don't have a degree, or need one, khandro. Any of your own thoughts and beliefs, even if they don't originate from yourself, have to pass your own criteria to be valid. So, there is never a need to refer to somebody else's opinions, as you will only agree if you have already thought of it yourself. There is nothing original, however old, that thousands of people haven't already considered for themselves. To be anywhere near convincing (and to theland, too) just explain your own thoughts in your own words. People living hundreds of years ago, know nothing more than you do.
