When Jesus Christ was on earth, he gave his listeners a lesson in observing signs and acting accordingly. He was talking about something of far-reaching importance. The Bible reports: “The Pharisees and Sadducees approached him and, to tempt him, they asked him to display to them a sign from heaven. In reply he said to them: ‘When evening falls you are accustomed to say, “It will be fair weather, for the sky is fire-red”; and at morning, “It will be wintry, rainy weather today, for the sky is fire-red, but gloomy-looking.” You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but the signs of the times you cannot interpret.’”—Matthew 16:1-3

Khandro, is this the church in Iceland that was used in the film?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallgr%C3%ADmskirkja

If so, it is one of the most stunning churches I have ever seen anywhere in the world. The interior is simplicity itself. Absolutely beautiful.

Iceland is predominately Lutherian.

I didn’t say the time I spent listening to Melanie Phillips was wasted. I watched the whole video. I just wonder why you asked me, in particular, to watch it.
Red sky at night, shepherds' delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherds' warning.
Who would have thought that little saying would have sparked such a long thread?
Eeeeeeh! It makes you think! Or not...
n. I don't think that was it, but agree it looks spectacular.
Though it wasn't the church that intrigued me it was the talk of 'confession' which I thought was only within the RC tradition.
But after all it was only a movie, so the church, of which only the interior could be seen, could have been anywhere & the scriptwriter could have taken liberties with the dialogue.
(btw, apart from the sermon there was a punch-up included in there! )
Lutherians practise confession, Khandro.
Really? Thank you.
They also signed up to some sort of ecumenical claptrap with the RC church some years ago.
Mind you, everybody does :-/
No thanks, khandro- as I said. I have done many of those topics under different subjects anyway. Both you and theland seem unwilling to directly answer anything, but want to push it off onto other people, who know no more than you or I do. Why is that?
//Both you and theland seem unwilling to directly answer anything//
Yep! It appears that neither have read 1 peter 3:15.
Have already posted questions about unfulfilled prophecies but get no reply.
But what do you expect from religionists?
I am ever optimistic, nailit... so are you:-)
Nailit - there are problems that in my own time and for my own satisfaction I will research.
But you ignore the mass of evidence for prophecy.
Time after time the Israelites were warned what would happen if they turned their back on
God.
Exile, death, persecution, no peace wherever they tried to settle, their name becoming a byword, antiSemitism which prevails to this day.
But the people regathered to the land under the protection of God.
It all is written in the bible, what happened is written in the history books, and is still happening today if you read / watch the news.
So what do you think if that?
Theland... I still don't understand why you need to research your own views and opinions? You already know... or you wouldn't hold them. It isn't hard work or time-consuming to tell us what you believe. Only if you are trying to tell us what other people believe.
"But what do you expect from religionists?"

Wow! A phrase spat out with an air of superiority.
That says more about you than about me.
Your holy grail seems to be kudos from other ABers.
You enjoy being part of the gang. Don't,you?
Pixie - there are a few problem areas where even theologians disagree. Researching those takes time.
What do I believe?
I thought you knew that.
A Creator God who created the universe.
His Son Jesus Christ redeeming us from sin to enable us to have eternal life with God. Simple.
I don't know why. I'm not interested whether "theologians" agree with each other or not. Those are all just opinions and as valid or invalid as each other. No proof whatsoever. I am only interested in why you choose to believe it, in spite of everything that says otherwise.
//Nailit - there are problems that in my own time and for my own satisfaction I will research//
And when you get back with answers, then we can talk.
Until then, dont try to preach that the Bible has all the answers.
Nailit - you are disingenuous.
I have not tried to preach to anybody, least of all you.
Theland,
explain please the unfulfiled prophecies?
You just might convince an unbeliever by doing so.
Pixie - "Everything that says otherwise."

Eh? what? Darwinism? Not proven.
Evolution, not proven. A universe from nothing, not, proven, abiogenesis not proven.
Masses of prophecy in the bible proven.
Objective morality from the bible, versus relativism and subjective feelings, disaster.
Dawkins does not believe in good or evil. Says we simply dance to our DNA.
Do you recognise evil? I do.
