Having been labelled on here as a racist, I would deny that claim most fervently for a variety of reasons, although I can easily see how somebody may come to that conclusion.
Racism, in whatever form it takes, needs to be called out, as it is am evil that denies our fellow man the very dignity that we ourselves demand and expect.
Most incidents of racism are directed by whites towards non whites, and therefore gain the headlines and the popular appreciation of the whole subject.
But I declare that racism is a two way street, and that racism in many forms is directed not only towards individual white people or groups of white people, but towards the very institutions and traditions that are part of our accepted way of life, and that such reverse racism, is equally dangerous and also needs to be confronted vigorously whenever it appears under whatever current guise it has adapted.

Some people really don’t know the basics of using answerBANK, do they?
Copy n paste it for me, Pixie...I can't see it.
I can't see all that screenshot but black people (as I thought) are well overrepresented.

Why is more not being done for the other minorities?
I think it is, roy... but as you can see- not everyone likes it.
Roy, how is (just using the BBC1 results there) 6.1% black, overrepresented ?
What % of people in the UK are black?
Had to look that one up. I have to admit, I thought it was a larger percentage than it was. 3% as of 2011.
I thought the same up until a few years ago. Surprised me at the time.
I mean, it might be different now, but to argue that would be barrel scraping. Still, given the small percentages involved, the overrepresentation isn't huge. As I said to Theland, the quality of those hired doesn't seem to be any inferior to non-black presenters.
How is it barrel-scraping?
Here's a post from years ago and I stick by it.

The question was.

//Are Black, Asian, Or Non-White Ethnic Minorities Under Represented In The Media?//

my reply to said question.

Black people definitely over represented, but professional whiners like Lenny Henry know that, so when he wants to be heard he switches to BAME are under represented.
I haven't noticed any special relationship between Black and Asian people (quite the opposite) So why lump them together?

Asians do look under represented but perhaps that is by choice?

Depending on how far you want to go with the old 'ethnic' business ... gypsy's are also over represented.

I think I may have interpreted your post wrongly, Mozz?
Anyway 4 years later and I don't see an increase in 'other ethnicities'
Yeah I think you did. I meant I would be scraping the barrell to use the time difference as an excuse.
I think if you take minorites as a whole, they may be underrepresented, but if they are, it's only by a smidge, and in any case, it's unfair to lump them all together.

My main issue was with Theland using the positive discrimination rubbish whenever he sees a BAME face on TV.

Those figures are way off the mark. I'll try and find the correct ones.
Anyway, just spend a day watching the news!

These figures are more like my experience of watching TV.
Other published figures are pulling the wool over our eyes.
Unless you, Theland (or any one else) can prove that any particular BAME person on TV HASN'T got there on their own merit then the point you're trying to make can't be substantiated.

Can you find figures which prove that there were better white candidates?
Question Author
No I can't. But we are a sad country if we couldn't fill those vacancies with white folk, as we do on every other walk of life.
They should ts!e the best regardless of race.
The figjres prove they are racist.
You're showing your true racist colours there, Theland. Why would you prefer a white person to take the position?
