When Does An 'Ordinary' Muslim Become An Extremist?

We're often told that there is a difference between 'ordinary' Muslims and extremists, so ignoring those who call for violence and Islamic domination as they march in support of Palestine, but thinking only of the Muslim school children and their parents and supporters who are making news by intimidating students into adopting the hijab, to observe Islamic fasting rituals, and to withdraw from some school activities because they are considered 'haram';   the student who is battling her school in court (at the taxpayers' expense) for the 'right' to pray during school hours, the protestors outside schools, causing one to close early in order to protect staff and pupils, and those who are threatening teachers to the extent that they fear travelling on public transport, one of whom is still, after a very long time, in hiding.   The people who are responsible for all of this carry on their regular everyday lives living among us.  Are they 'ordinary' Muslims - or are they extremists?

Redhelen - My mistake. Apologies.

I'll step back and let Naomi continue on the thread which has somehow become 'un-trashed' because people wish it to continue.

I just stick with my postings at the beginning of this threat. The OP breaks Site Rules and the reason given for it not breaking Site Rules is rubbish.

Redhelen: //AH you misunderstood - I am not talking about you but the OP and others with her mindset//

Then I too was mistaken of your intent, and remove my espousal at 07:58 of yours at 07:46.

Of course one could ask the question

When does right wing beliefs cross over to facscism?

Because it appears to me from some of the postings they are already there.

Question Author

The question does not break Site Rules.

Thank you, Khandro.  I wondered.  :o)

Please stick to topic now.

facism

very intolerant or domineering views or practices in a particular area:

lol...that sort of reminds of...Islam.

I couldn't and wouldn't sell the idea of right wing facism.

Someone attempt to sell me the idea of Islam...I'm all ears.

s s (missing from above lol)

Redhelen //...When does right wing beliefs cross over to facscism?//

Please (briefly) define what you mean by 'right wing beliefs'.

I could be described as 'right-wing' I suppose and I am unapologetically so, but I abhor fascism intensely because I am a democrat (note, small d ).

In my opinion Nsomi it does!  Rule 6 as I posted before.

But you must be right of course!

I think RedHelen or perhaps someone else said something like that the other day so I'll repeat what I said then.  There is no more right wing philosophy than Islam.  It does not compromise.

From your extensive knowledge of Islam you have declared that Islam want to wipe every non islamic out.

There have been several comments on here about wiping out Islam.

How does that make 'you' any different than Islam?

//It does not compromise. //

Neither do you

Question Author

Redhelen, who are you talking to?

The OP

Question Author

Oh me, RedHelen!!  Right.  I do have a name, but never mind.    To get an answer to your question you'll have to ask whoever said that.

Redhelen, being ignorant of Islam and the Koran can be excused, but making assertions on something you know little of can not.

"There have been several comments on here about wiping out Islam.

How does that make 'you' any different than Islam?"

The glaring difference is that Islam is predicated on the destruction of disbelievers, 'Infidels' - that means you & me.

The Quran is replete with Surahs directing its followers to violence against us while the West's core religion of Christianity encompasses no such thing (in fact the opposite!)

Some examples:

Surah 3:151: "We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve (all non-Muslims) …"

Surah 2:191: "And kill them (non-Muslims) wherever you find them … kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers (non-Muslims)."

Surah 9:5: "Then kill the disbelievers (non-Muslims) wherever you find them, capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush …"

Sadly Khandro I am forced to point out that the Bible also has the equivalent verses:

https://www.openbible.info/topics/killing_non_believers

All religion is bad, Islam is the worst currently but the others have all had their phases.

TTT. I said 'Christianity' : All those quotes are from the Old Testament.  Only one sentence one from the gospels mentions the word 'slaughter' - Luke 19:27,  and that is a very unsafe, uncorroborated quotation.

Question Author

TTT, that is published by an American evangelical group (nuff said really) and, used for the purpose you've used it, is highly misleading.  The ancient Hebrews, referenced in the Old Testament, were brutal in their conquest of the Promised Land (Israel) - they slaughtered whole tribes including their animals - but, unlike Islam with its quest for an Islamic world, the Israelites restricted their warmongering solely to that which they believed was promised to them by God.

The Old Testament does include, for example, instructions to kill disobedient children, but the Jews don't do it, and the reason they don’t do it (they do disown kids though) is because the bible is open to interpretation.  The Jews acknowledge that it was written by men - not God - which leads us to the big difference between the Jews/Christians and Islam.  Unlike the Bible, the Koran is claimed to be the direct word of Allah, and as such is considered to be utterly indisputable.  The prophet Mohammed, together with his writings, is also deemed to be beyond criticism - so whatever either says goes.  That is why any atrocities - or kindnesses - Islamists mete out can be justified in Islamic literature.   If Allah or Mohammed said it, it's alright by Islam.

Islam resembles Judaism in many ways because when constructing the Koran and inventing his new religion, Mohammed took enormus inspiration from both the Old and New Testaments - which is why Muslim men are circumcised, women are subjugated, why Muislims don't eat pork, and why Jesus is a revered prophet of Islam.

The quotation from Luke (New Testament) is from a parable - a story.  Jesus never told anyone to kill anyone.

Incidentally, unlike Islam and Christianity, Judaism doesn't seek converts - and regardless of the faith of a father, any child born to a Jewish mother is deemed Jewish.

Proof - if any were needed - that anyone can bend their text of choice to suit their beliefs and behaviours.

But not everyone does.

If it did, the entire world would be under Muslim domination, and last time I checked, it wasn't.
