I was accused of racism at a BBQ on Saturday because I said I don't find black women attractive.

I don't consider this to be even remotely racist, just personal preference.

Opinions?

Thank you silentsnow, you've proved a point that I have been saying for a long time.......a lot of people, you included, really don't understand what racism is.
Racism is discrimination or PREJUDICE based on race, do you agree? if not give me your definition of what racism is.

Two examples of PREDUDICE are : 1/ an adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts and 2/ a preconceived preference or idea.

You said you don't find black woman attractive, i doubt you have met every black woman, I take it you do find some woman attractive, but just as long as they are not black yeah?

It was a racist comment.

*i had to capitalise prejudice because of a lack of a bold font here, i wasn't shouting or anything :)

I'd refer you to Loosehead's answer - sums it up neatly for me!

Of course I haven't met every black woman, but I've met enough to know that I don't find them attractive - I can objectively see some are good looking but I am not sexually attracted to them.

How is that even remotely racist?

I do however find many Indian women very very attractive - kinda knocks the racist comment aside doesn't it.

I don't find gay men attractive - does that make me a homophobe?

I'm afraid you simply do not understand what true racism is.

well i suppose it depends if you find straight men attractive or not, you did say you didn't find black woman attractive, so i assume its just the woman.

..Naw i'm just joking, B

Back to your original question though, i doubt we would ever agree, it could go on forever, i just find it a bit dangerous that a race is ever referred to as a whole, society needs all the help it can get in dealing with people as individuals.
I don't find men with beards attractive..does that make me beardist?

Seriously, it is personal choice flip_flop. Not racist at all.

Mr P is of the same opinion, although he has socialised and worked with many black women he has never found any attractive ~ nor does he find any black actresses or singers attractive. He has also been called racist because of this opinion.
Forgot to mention that both Eddie Murphy & Jermaine Jackson have publicly stated that they aren't sexually attracted to white women, and would never date one.

As far as I know they have never been vilified for saying that.

Make of it what you will ;o)
No this is not racisism at all!! Its just another fine example of how the nation is getting sucked up by the PC brigade and i am an anti racist to the max!! Its just like me saying i dont find ginger men attractrive or that i dont find blonde men attractive!!
