Racism

I was accused of racism at a BBQ on Saturday because I said I don't find black women attractive.
I don't consider this to be even remotely racist, just personal preference.
Opinions?

Personally, I wouldn't particularly find south asian women attractive, but I can still interact with them on a daily basis, and I don't think my attitude as to whether I'd sleep with them or not remotely affects my relationship with them. Like saying 'I wouldn't sleep with a man' being a sexist remark.

Oddly enough: I don't, and I have said that "I don't find white men attractive". I'm white so does that make me a racist? I don't think so.
My boyfriend too says he doesn't find the female of his race attractive so the same there.
It's not a racist comment you made, just expressing an oppinion on personal preference.

Where was the BBQ, numpties are us? There are a lot of people out there who do not know what racism is, they just think that not liking something is tantamount to racism. Expressing a preference is not racist unless it is accompanised by the qualifcation that the preference is expressed because of the charancteristics or because of some perceived difficiency. It may be a generalisation but as a rule I do not find Black women attractive either. That does not mean I think any less of them as people.
Not in the slightest bit racist flip flop, whatever next??? we cant say a bloody thing these days. I dont find men with ginger hair attractive or men with hairy backs but all that is is a matter of my personal taste! Of which i am, or did think i was entitled to. I dont find black men attractive either just for the record in the same way that probably a lot of black women dont find white men attractive. utter nonsense to try and turn that into a another racial issue!

I do consider excluding a race, creed, culture, etc. from your list of candidates for what you will allow yourself to find attractive a form of racism that is entirely permissible albeit not rationally justifiable. On the same hand, why you find the need to pronounce your narrow minded selection process especially in conjunction with demonstrating your insensitivity towards the feelings of others by stating such preferences in such a setting is itself questionable.
I'm not suggesting that I am "holier than thou" and regrettably admit that I have done the same myself on numerous occasions but there's hopefully always room for growth. Your thought provoking question deserves careful consideration. I hope you do not find the results of mine entirely objectionable.

No it's not racism per se, but if you believe that you don't find women of a certain race attractive, you might form a mental block against finding them attractive. I'm no psychologist so I hope that makes sense.
With that in mind, would you say that you haven't found the black women that you have come across attractive or do you generally not find black women attractive? What do I know? could just be a semantic difference
