Many persons know about God. They may live in communities where most citizens claim to believe that he exists. But does this mean that they really know God? Well, there is a difference in knowing about the ruler of the country where one lives and in having a personal acquaintance with him. So, too, with knowing God.

Truthabounds, That isn't a compliment - it's patronising - so if you are expecting gratitude from me, forget it. It is still the woman's husband who 'sitteth among the elders of the land' while she very likely wastes her potential because the bible decrees she must.

And if you still think it's man himself who has relegated women to second place, I suggest you read again what you advised me to read - and while you're at it, give St Paul a look.
//Cultures who have continued to enforce religious limitation on women have significantly poorer economic performce than those who intelligently engaged their full range of human resources. // beso's comments.

Elderman/Truthabounds - even the Saudis recognise the importance of women in areas such as medicine, education and I am even aware of one female CEO of a major trading house, and things/attitudes to women are gradually changing......but, I guess to you, they are considered heathens, being Muslim, and therefore not worthy of your (arrogant and prejudiced) consideration.
Truthabounds, //And if you still think it's man himself who has relegated women to second place, //

Actually I need to qualify that. Of course it is man himself who has relegated women to second place - but he's justified that by claiming to have been inspired in his writings by God - so that's alright then!

Despite that fine beginning, a movement called women’s liberation—an attempt by women to break free from male domination—began in the early 1960’s. At that time, some 300 husbands abandoned their families to every 1 wife who did. By the end of the 1960’s, the ratio changed to about 100 to 1. Now, it seems, women swear, drink, smoke, and behave immorally as much as men do. So are women happier? No. In some countries, about half of the people who marry eventually divorce. Has the effort by some women to improve their marital situation made matters better or worse.

"when a couple gets married, the bride makes a vow, promising that she will deeply respect her husband"

In which version of the marriage ceremony? None that I have been to (including my own!) - respect is earned, not a right, and we respect each other.

How would you react to anyone’s encouraging a wise person to become foolish? Likely you would consider this to be very poor advice. There is a time, however, when it is the best of advice. The apostle Paul wrote to the Christians at Corinth: “If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this system of things, let him become a fool,

So now it's a DaveAndrews cut and paste with two or three worsds modified.

Yawn.

The fundamental premise is flawed and outdated though, that women are subservient to me. So I suggest that you start with that and consider your "foolishness" first, before pontificating at others with such outdated logic(and copied drivel).
subservient to men, not me......
Freudian slip there, DT?

But God did not command faithful men to be subservient to that old world society, nor to try to perpetuate it. To the contrary, he called men out to be free and separate from it to do a work he had for them.
Yes Sandy

Elderman - pious rhetoric now that falls down on the assumption that there is a God at all. I am trying to find out where you cut and pasted this from....

This is not my link. It is the one you posted. And it is one I have never used nor would.
Elderman, you are beginning (just) to make sense at last, so carry on putting words togethe rin a similar way but not mentioning anything biblical and you will be understood.
So given that this was the site of where some of your cut and pastes have come from, you are now denying involvement.....interesting perspective that one.

so what was the point of copying a link that had already been published (and the link does work from where I put it) - it did look like that you were referring to another part of what is an extensive site, so hence my comment....
