It's a bit of a boring song anyway. I never enjoyed it at church -- but that aside, if he were just enjoying the music, what about the final quote "I sing for - Jesus Christ. Amen."? That's not the mark of a child enjoying singing. That's a child saying what he's been told to.
Craft, that’s a bit cryptic. How about a straightforward response? Do you think it’s right that this child is being exploited?
Baza, //no mileage in that one on R&S.//
As far as I’m aware, Syco isn’t a religious organisation, so I fail to see why you think it should be discussed here, but that aside you clearly support the exploitation of a child by religion, but object to exploitation of children by Syco. How does that work then? Or are we once again into ‘religion can do no wrong’ territory?
try reading my replies, did I state that, or did I not, the original post depicts a child singing, do we all agree with that?
Syco productions makes money from exploiting people, is that agreed?
Did the word accused not appear on your screen?
When will we get the answer from modeller?
Must go soon the kettle is just starting to boil.
That was a bit hard chrisgel. You may not agree with what goodlife says but he has every right to say it. As naomi said - "MrsLulu, you're free to post as you will - and other people are free to post as they will."
baza, I’ve read your replies, and I’m not sure why you asked if the word ‘accused’ appears on my screen – but, yes, it does. So are you saying that religion exploits children just as Syco exploits children – or that it’s fine for religion to do it, but not Syco?
what I think I said was that Christians have been accused of exploiting the child, by comparison Syco appear to exploit the acts on their shows albeit minors or disabled, yet no condemnation on here.
At what point did this thread turn from an exhibition of what Christians find 'beautiful', into a question of, to what depths are we prepared to peer to find something worse than the exploitation of innocent children by religion?
Baza, //Syco appear to exploit the acts on their shows albeit minors or disabled, yet no condemnation on here.//
That's because this is R&S, and IF Syco is exploiting children, it isn't for religious purposes. Hence its methods of conducting business have no place in this section. However, I do believe that subject has been discussed in other, more appropriate, sections. Try News, Media & TV, or Chatterbank. I'm sure I've seen something about it in one of those.
I see no difference in this from the children taking part in Britain's Got Talent, considering his disabilities I think he sang very well in the first video, although I didn't like the song very much.
Now take a listen to him singing "O Holy Night" in his school play, he can certainly hit those top notes.
I wonder if we are being a little unfair. Americans are accustomed to this kind of thing whereas many British tend to regard it as pure schmaltz. My reaction was wanting to plant one on the gob of that unctious creature who was introducing the little boy but that's just my upbringing I imagine
