Does Islam Have Anything To Offer The World?
146 Answers
We have been told by a Muslim ABer that the people of Islam are coming to the west, not for a better life, but to show us ‘the way’. Most of the major problems the world is currently experiencing undoubtedly involve Muslim nations, and if that’s ‘the way’ they want to show us, it's not terribly enticing, so just what does Islam have to offer the world? As far as I can see, nothing whatsoever.

If the outlets, supermarkets, convenience stores all label their goods non halal, halal, i at least have a choice. Most markets in the capital only do halal, find a decent butcher and you can get non halal, but confess the major supermarkets should all label their meats as such.
Khandro, how many Christian churches in Saudi, how many would own up to being Christian in a Muslim country, not many. They are not inclusive, and those who think they are are sadly mistaken. The building of Mosques will not stop, nor will it stop them taking over abandoned churches if they can get permission, i am waiting for our fairly poorly attended local church to have a minaret on the top then i know it would be time to vacate. I am not lover of any religion, nor will i ever be, but as we have seen endless times, they are divisive and controlling. Christianity has a lot to answer for, Catholicism much more so, as to Islam you can keep it.
i was essentially called a liar by someone on here for stating that most of the butchers you see around only do halal, well most of the markets i know, and have used are now majority asian run, and so halal is their way, so i keep my eyes open, and use the supermarket where i can, but still check labels. I try not to be hypocritical, i do like eating meat, but do worry about animal welfare, so perhaps i should become a vegetarian. I have tried quorn products but confess that wasn't very nice.
em. (see I remembered); I agree, and attacks against anyone on grounds of religion is appalling as was seen in the partition of India by Muslim and Hindu, and Northern Ireland for that matter, religion alone is not always the main factor in these conflicts. I was really responding to vulcan's "integration or total annihilation" comment, which I believe is an unrealistic scare.

I'm not sure on the exact number, but 'not many' is as good a guess as any. Anyhow, having spent some time there, the Mutaween are quite content to let christianity be practiced discretely by expats (in compounds, 5 star hotels and diplomatic quarters). More importantly, if you despise religion - why would it bother you?
And unless you are vegetarian, an animal will bleed to death to feed you. If you think that all your meat has been stunned first - whether Halal or not - then you are quite sincerely deluded.
