When people, especially the young, fall foul of unavoidable diseases and die, the religious often justify the loss by saying “It’s God’s will”, and yet when asked why they think a loving God would have willed that disease on the victim, they say “It’s not God’s fault”. How does that work?

Khandro, I haven't shot myself in the foot at all. Who designed the theatre and why was it built?

Good Buddhist, bad Buddhist – irrelevant. You said the Gaza strip has nothing whatsoever to do with God. I asked you, as a Buddhist, to identify the God you’re talking about.
Why so slow agchristie ? Do you have broadband at home ? I changed over from BT's ordinary service, to Infinity in January and I am now getting 38 mega pixies, and it is costing me only £1 more a month. You may not be able to get faster speeds though, if BT have not provided "Fibre to the Cabinet"
yet. Worth making some enquiries though !
^^ Huh! City folk…
I do have broadband Mikey but its just easier from my phone as I am regularly on the go! I hadnt realised there was an issue until you said! It is terribly slow from the phone though and sticks...
The universe is the theatre and it has design, therefore it follows there must be an 'architect' - a greater power necessary to design it, and beyond present, and probably all future human comprehension. This is my personal take and has nothing to do with, nor is negated by, any of the teachings in Buddhism.
Question Author
Khandro, so I take it you don't believe the creator of the universe was the God of Abraham, and therefore you don't believe there was ever a "Promised Land"?
The Promised Land is a 2012 American drama film, directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Matt Damon, John Krasinski, Frances McDormand, and Hal Holbrook. The screenplay is written by Damon and Krasinski based on a story by Dave Eggers.
Khandro, that is such a flippant response.Genesis 15 may help you to come up with a suitable answer but I somehow doubt it.
Question Author
Khandro, the Jews wouldn't agree that that's all it is. They think it's something rather more than that.
Question Author
Khandro, you sidled around my question. Do you believe the creator of the universe was the God of Abraham?
-- answer removed --
agchristie; You accuse me of flippancy; not knowing of you I looked up your stats, and find you have been a member for 21 days, and have posted 399 answers, - no flippancy there then.
Question Author
Khandro, Ah, there you are. Any chance of answering my question?
Khandro, not sure what point you are trying to make there? Are you confusing 'flippancy' with my general interest? Average of appx 20 answers per day? Flippancy? I think not.
@naomi

Khandro cannot answer your question as I think it is illegal for him to say what you are trying to get him to say, in Germany.

It only needs to be perceived as X to be X, where X is racism/sexism/anti-semitism/LGBT intolerance etc.,the way these laws are written. (Or do I think).
Question Author
Hypognosis, you're reading something into my question that isn't there. It's a simple question - does he believe that the God of Abraham was the creator of the universe? There is no covert intention.
He doesn't sweat the small stuff.
naomi; Does the God of Abraham exist? Well if I were you, I would hope he doesn't, cos if he does, you're gonna be holding up the queue at the pearly gate trying to answering some awkward questions. Of course it's never too late, you could always adopt the wager :0)
Question Author
Khandro, that's not what I asked. A simple 'yes' or 'no' will do.
Sorry naomi. I'd zeroed in on the 'Promised Land' aspect of the question and also jumped to the conclusion that denial of same amounted to anti-semitism.
All of which muddled thinking tells me that I'm in dire need of some quality zzzs.
