Dismiss God as the author and creator of the universe, but what is your hypothesis? Or are you simply satisfied to say, "I don't know?"

I go with the scientific theory. But if you look at it the idea that the entire Universe arose spontaneously out of nothing in a few billionths of a second in the 'Big Bang' which also created time is equally incomprehensible. People find it hard to understand that there can not have anything before the Big Bang as time was created at the same instant.
Mikey, Okay. You can't answer my question because you don't have an answer. That's sorted.
Von Daniken is an outright racist who believes Negroes are a separate species from white men
http://www.jasoncolavito.com/blog/the-astonishing-racial-claims-of-erich-von-daniken
He is also a wealthy man due to the success of his books

His claims have been debunked , they even found the potter who made the pots he claimed had pictures that were proof of ancient astronauts.

Eddie, as Mikey is so fond of saying, play the ball not the man - even though Mikey is also playing the man here. In this instance playing the ball is clearly not within the capabilities of either of you.
I fail to see your point naomi. Von Daniken is a charlatan and a hoaxer who has been proven wrong on virtually everything he has written, see my link.
He was very successful at what he did , writing books that are a load of bulls***** but have made him worth over $30,000,000
Eddie, my point is you have not told me why his fundamental theory is wrong - and neither has Mikey.
Read my link from skepdic , or even better Goggle 'Von Daniken Debunked' for yourself there are a lot more links other than the one I posted.
If I give my view you are only going to claim either I am lying or that I made it up.
For what it is worth I read every one of Daniken's books several times as a child and was impressed by them. However, as I became older and more educated I realised they were seriously flawed and built on a false premise.
Hello Naomi, I dont understand your misinterpretation of the Bible and you don't bother to explain yourself so I hold to the belief that God is more than capable of bringing the Universe into being.
Eddie, I’ll ask you again. Why is his fundamental theory wrong?

Hazi-Hammenuhoth, I explained myself on the first page of this thread at 09:51 Fri 20th Oct. No misinterpretations.
// I dont understand your misinterpretation of the Bible//
I don't understand Christians misinterpretation of the Bible. They misinterpret it as been 'good' 'infallible' 'without contradiction' etc when its clearly none of these things.
naomi, read this link it explains exactly the reasons why I believe Daniken's basic theory is wrong.
https://www.armstrong.edu/history-journal/history-journal-valid-theories-or-an-overactive-imagination-assessing-erich
If you want me to type it out and post it I will, but this link explains my reasoning in detail. You have a habit of asking me for links so here it is!
Eddie, that's yet another character assassination. It doesn't explain why the basic theory is wrong.
// ..are you simply satisfied to say, "I don't know?" //

Yes.
Yet another debunking of Daniken

How much more do you need to understand why I am convinced Von Daniken's theory is rubbish. OK possibly, just barely possibly he was correct and all the dismissive links are wrong, but I know which side I am on.
Eddie....I would give up if I were you....Naomi is "always right".....you should know that by now !

Let her beleive her in Little Green Men from Outer Space if she wants to ( Chariots of the Gods : Was God An Astronaut? )
While I personally do not prescribe to the supposition that God was a visitor from another world as perceived by humans at the time, I believe it provides an astronomically better explanation for who/what God is/was (assuming one ever existed) than as creator of the universe.
Thank you, Mibs. My point exactly.

Eddie/Mikey, you can do character assassination when someone else tells you what to say, but neither of you can tell me why he’s wrong. No surprise there. Actually I couldn’t give a hoot what side you’re on, Eddie – I take all your posts with a pinch of salt – but tell you what, if you two really want to learn something forget Von Daniken - try the Vedas. To quote PeterPedant, ‘Wot dat den?”

Mikey, You’re saying I’m always right. I’ve never said it. Bet you googled that title. ;o)
I believe that God created the universe and nothing anyone says on here will make me waver.

What God would that be Maggie? Thor, Zeus, Osiris, Allah?
