Atheist, with a name like that, it seems you have already closed your mind and donned a straightjacket.

But to hold your belief, or lack thereof, I expect you to possess satisfying answers to questions such as these.

Glad to hear it Theland. So from now on you are going to actually watch vids that you recommend to us??

Good start mate!
And well done for admitting that you actually havnt viewed any vids that you have copy and pasted for our viewing pleasure. A bit like admitting that you actually havnt read the Bible that you are so fond of telling us contains all truth,
Nothing like research is there?
Theland - I am intrigued by your approach to the AB.

You claim to want to debate, and obtain answers, but when you fail to obtain the answers that you want, as opposed to the answers that you get every single time you post, you adopt the hurt "I'm only trying to have a conversation here …" woe-is-me stance.

My response is very simple - I have no idea how life started, and that puts me in exactly the same basket as every single originator of these tiresome boring videos you keep unearthing and putting in front of anyone with the time and patience to view them.

Before getting bored with your latest offering, I noticed your protagonist banging on about the 'chicken and the egg' debate.

That was solved eons ago - birds are descended from dinosaurs so the chicken came before the egg - but he doesn't appear to have grasped that, which makes you wonder what else in science he ignores.

The similarity Theland between you and I, is that neither of is know how life originated.

The difference is - only one of us actually cares.
After, surely ?
Question Author
Nailit - I do actually watch the vids before posting.
Why wouldn't I?

So many people are tired, bored, and generally kerfuffled because of my views and how I express them.
Simple solution? Go to another category and discuss literature, adverts, pets, gardening, or whatever?
Why deliberately come on to R&S with the sole objective of taking offence and then complaining?

It beats me!
Favourite quotation, seen on a wall in Belfast in the 70s.

Is there life before death?

There you go again - infame … infame …

If you only want the answers you like, then don't post in The Answerbank - that's not how it works, never was, and never will be.
Question Author
Andy - I can't express myself without offending.
I complain and that draws flak.
What then?
//I posted a thread and like sharks circling, I am surrounded by those who can smell blood and brought their popcorn along for the show.
Like a public hanging.//

Poor Theland. How he suffers for his faith. Not that he ever mentions his dramatic imaginings. :o/

Spit the lemon out Naomi, and recognise a bit of humour! Sheesh! About as joyful as the woman in the One Stop Shop!
Theland, I am well acquainted with your humour and when it surfaces I recognise it. It hasn't surfaced here. Not even a good try.
Andy, when you write “There you go again - infame … infame … ” are your spelling credentials slipping, or do you have access to different dictionaries..

“INFAMY, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me” was the line.
The idea that the source of information is a problem for science is nonsense.

At its most basic, the information is about the characteristics of a molecule that ultimately cause it to replicate itself. That information concentrates because the most successful replicator becomes more prevalent.
Did you know that a mother can inherit DNA from the baby she is carrying in her womb?
Lydia. You make me sound as if I'm not just Athy, but the Athiest!
Khandro, can you tell us more about the mother inheriting DNA from her own foetus? I haven't heard about that.
Atheist; May I respectfully say, that though you have such certainty that there is no God, you do not really know what is going on in your own (or your wife's, if you are male) body.

Ref, DNA; Women do not only pass on DNA, but can receive it too from their children. During pregnancy, foetal cells get into the mother's bloodstream mixing freely with her own cells and resulting in what scientists call a 'microchimera', a single organism harbouring a small number of cells from another individual.

Microchimerism is the reason doctors can use the mother's blood to do genetic testing looking for markers of disease in the DNA of the growing foetus. Though the number of foetal cells in her bloodstream will drop after the birth, some can stay for decades, even for the rest of her life. These cells can become an integral part of her body, and may have both positive and negative effects on her health - a sort of backwards inheritance.

Source, extracted from; [i] She has her Mother's Laugh; the powers, perversions and potential of heredity by Carl Zimmer. [i] Picador, 656pp. £25.
Thanks. Khandro. It sounds big read! How did you find it?
The London Review of Books 25th October copy, a long review by Meehan Crist, entitled, 'Race doesn't come into it'.

You have two distinct choices, both of which I have mentioned previously, and you have ignored me, and others each time, but since you are asking -

Drop your 'holier-than thou, I have something and you need it, and I pity you ...' stance which simply offends people, and stop patronising intelligent people by talking down to them as though they are eight-year-olds with personality defects.

Oh, and try debating instead of preaching and / or whining - that would work wonder as well.
