A virus does not self generate. It corrupts the genetic engine of the host to replicate. It cannot replicate itself and is not normally considered "alive" in its own right.

Giant viruses even behave like cells and do metabolic processes like a cell except they don't do their own reproduction.

I have already given examples of molecules that actually replicate themselves.
Beso; sorry, I wrote 'self generate' meaning replicate (on a host). Self-generate was your confusing word in your earlier post which you claim to have given an example of in molecules, and which I refute. To self-generate would require 'life' which doesn't exist in molecules.
Can you quote a source for this assertion?
