We mustn't forget that what we are "celebrating" tomorrow is the homeless refugee couple having to spend the cold and frosty night in a barn for their baby's birth.

Today the Little Englanders would rather see them drowned in the Mediterranean.

We should be grateful the the fable of peace and love hasn't been twisted out of all recognition by greedy, powerful forces bent on profiting from the gullibility of the downtrodden and dispossesed. It could all have led to misery for millions down the centuries.

Been up all night so off to bed at last. Back later.
It is generally accepted that Jesus was not born on 25th December, nor in AD 1. The mention of a house and the slaughter of the innocents two years and under suggest that the Wise Men arrived long after the Nativity.
Theland, what sources do the anonymous atheist professors you (quite bizarrely) choose to promote have access to that I don’t? Their sources are mine – and yours.

Khandro, you, like Theland, depend rather too heavily upon the selected words of others. Where this subject is concerned, free-thinking appears to be at a premium. Odd really, that rather than seek truth, you want me to take your man’s word as ‘gospel’ solely to preserve religion That doesn't work for me.
ps Theland. Hitler was Christian.... not your preferred flavour of Christian, granted - but Christian nonetheless.
//not your preferred flavour of Christian, granted//
But no one knows what Thelands preferred flavour is? He wont tell us...
I get the impression he has his own version, Nailit.
Naomi, he always tells us that his version is 'bible based' Christianity. Not like all the other thousands of denominations which arnt ;-)
:o)
naomi; //you ......... depend rather too heavily upon the selected words of others.//
You have pointed this out to me before. Is it that when you aren't able to counter the quote because it is too good (as above) it is me you criticise? I once quoted Plato and you said, can't you think for yourself? Well I've tried, but have to admit he was the better thinker.

The important thing is to choose the right people to quote; William Penn and Plato or Richard Dawkins?

When quoting others, Khandro, the sole consideration should be in deciding whether or not the quote is accurate. In this case, as in the case of your quotes from Chesterton whom you also consider to be one of the ‘right’ people, it is not. It is an irrational assumption.
Daniel B Wallace is quite an authority on New Testament studies, and the mass of evidence for it.
But hey! I am not trying to dissuade you from the comfort of your atheism.
I too have my reasons to believe, which I share with other believers who have always been, or come to be believers in Jesus Christ.
Some believers have adhered to their faith for years, then abandoned it.
I don't think you have cornered the market for evidence.
What's you're preferred flavour of Christianity Theland?
Obviously not Catholic. You've made that clear.
So Protestant?
What 'brand' of protestant most closely resembles ur own beliefs?
(if any) Or do you have your own, original take on things that no one else does?
Just curious!
My beliefs are based on Jeus Christ and His apostles as presented in the New Testament.
Are their any modern day churches that share ur beliefs Theland?
Possibly evangelical. I live next door to a CoE but can't go there. There is an evangelical a few roads away, but health prevents me getting involved.
My faith is expressed daily in prayer, lectures, and simply trying with Gods grace to do His will.
Now, that sounds so stiff and sanctimonious, and I promise you I am far from that.
Take a look at Moriel Ministries for example.
James Jacob Prasch.
//Possibly evangelical//
possibly?
POSSIBLY?
But you alone follow bible based Christianity? (but 'possibly' a few others may do as well?)
//Now, that sounds so stiff and sanctimonious, and I promise you I am far from that//
NO, You really ARE stiff and sanctimonious!
Thank you for that insult Nailit.
I shall not be responding to your prodding again.
Enjoy the New Year.
Happy new year Theland ;-)
