Weve had our spats on here and biblical apologetics has been done to death.
But Im genuinely interested...
When you read the Old Testament, what does your conscience say?
When you read of God ordering killings, war and genocide, when you read of injust laws been implemented and God ordering the execution of rebellious teenagers or women that don't bleed on their wedding night or rape victims having to marry their rapist so that they can be *kept* for the rest of their lives (by their rapist)
Doesn't that repel you in any way?
Just trying to understand the mind of a literalist bible believer.

Theland - I do read your posts, and you preach, condescend, revaricate, lecture, and look down on me and others as atheists.
You are the one who sets up your faith as something everyone else needs - so why can't you back it up with the answer to a simple question - without the abuse that is absolutely contrary to your beliefs you claim to live by.

God doesn't always behave very well by modern standards; but like many people he relaxes when he becomes a father, and mostly hands the family business over to his son. A lot of non-believers act as if the Bible ends at Malachi; believers on the other hand tend to pay more attention to the New Testament than the Old.

A lot of non-believers question the whole bible. Believers on the other hand pay more attention (as you say) on the New testament....and totally ignore the barbarism of the old.

To answer the questions fully would require me to spend hours researching the information, that is there, but complex.
Do you think that is a reasonable demand to make of me?
And then after all of that, you could say, "Yeah
but yeah but yeah but......." And off I go again so no chance.
Do your own research.

Theland has a point in the sense.. everyone's perception on religion is different.. IE, Protestantism and Chatolics even Lutheranism etc.. and many more are all different views on Christianity.
So one religion but many perspectives.
If you want thelands perspective he can give that, but he can't answer questions which could be viewed in many different lights.
