That's not how I read the OP. Believers were asked what it (i.e. their belief in religion) was all about. If it was supposed to be otherwise then that wasn't made clear.

People do, of course, become sectarian, as in Northern Ireland, but none of them can claim authority for their violence from the bible.
On the other hand, there are clear instructions for violence in the Koran.
And why are you still worrying about a book you don't believe in?

Just another round of random catastrophes that have beset those inhabiting the planet throughout history. The Black Plague was far worse but Jesus didn't front up and orchestrate Tribulations then.

Looking at the bigger picture, the plague was trivial compared to events like the Chixilub Impact or the Permian-Triassic Extinction.

Jesus said that every word of the Old Testament stood as God's word. Plenty of commands to commit brutal violence in there.

One of my favourites is Deuteronomy 21:18 where the father of a disobedient son is advised to tell the men of the town that his son is a "glutton and a drunkard" (regardless of whether this is the truth) and they should stone him to death

The Bible is the moral guide for the mentally ill.

Don't forget how God commands people in Psalm 137:9 to tear the unborn from their mother's wombs and smash their heads in front of them.

No-one is suggesting ignoring the 'central message' - they are simply not willing to let you swerve the violent bits because they don;t happen to chime with your version of God's message.

That's selective editing, and since you don't allow Muslims to ignore the violent entreaties in their holy book, why should anyone allow you to do the same?

I think Vulcan is right, theland. I've never asked you anything "factual" according to the bible... only ever about your own views and beliefs, which you obviously will know. But you avoid my questions as much as anyone else's- and I have never asked you to research anything.
If you know it well enough to fully believe it, you don't need other sources to say it for you.
