Khandro, The under-reporting is, I believe, an effort to minimise social unrest. Austria has a history of kowtowing to Islam for that very purpose. A few years ago a woman was brought before the Austrian courts and found guilty of disparaging Mohammed when she was actually telling the truth about his marriage to a six year old girl. She subsequently appealed to the European Court of Human Rights who upheld the Austrian Court’s decision - a matter which, in my opinion, rendered the ECHR unfit for purpose.

I can find reports of protests in China (albeit short-lived, it being China and all that), but I can’t find any more, so Theland appears to be right. Muslims elsewhere aren’t taking to the streets in their thousands as they do when cartoons are published in the west.

In Dacca, Bangladesh, the mobs have stormed the French embassy, burned French flags and images of Macron, all because he said Islam was a religion in crisis, and of course, he and his government are standing up for the freedom of speech in the Republic.
And oh yes! Don't forget the cartoons.

Four people were killed and 17 injured when gunmen opened fire at a series of six locations around central Vienna on Monday night.

The dead included an elderly couple, a young male passer by and a waitress. Seven of the injured remained in critical condition on Tuesday morning.
