Right here goes...... I honestly don't want to start a big debate but for all the muslims out here can someone eplain what your religion is all about?
From what i have seen so far it is very oppressive very negative and also very dogmatic in the way you live your life.
anyone wanna try and change my media influenced views on muslim culture?
and please no-one start raving on about how bad all muslims are- they cant all be bad so i just want someone to explain to me on an unhostile thread what they're all about.

Because I am such a nice person here or in the real world that people (well majority of them" would like me any way. Because most of my friends (majority Non-Muslims) say that I am a pleasure to be with. I hope they really mean that.
catron- I don't get your problem with naomi's style of arguement at all. From what I can tell she has to keep on re-iterating points all the time and explaining them in differing ways as they keep getting either misunderstood, or passed by. I must admire her perserverance on the keypad! In the face of such needed repetition, It's like beating your head against a brick wall.
You are mistaking her dedication to the thread for arguing for the sake of it, whilst you have really nothing of any sustance to add yourself, which is a shame.

Oh give over Naomi24 - you know full well if you stopped 'jousting' this thread would die a natural death.
You are an enigma to me. You said earlier in this thread that you had changed you mind about Islam based on the interactions you have had with keyplus90 - that makes this thread very personal for you surely?

Keyplus, A couple of posts between Catron and me, and you're saying don't argue? Coming from you, that's rich.
I don't agree that you need to have unseen faith to feel love. My love for my child, or for my husband and family, has nothing to do with faith, but it will never, ever die. And, just let me say this. You don't know what my beliefs are. You're making assumptions.
Thanks, Le Chat. You got it in one! The difference between me and some others though, is that I will debate, and in the strongest terms if my principles so dictate, but then go on to share a joke with my previous adversary on the very next thread as though nothing ever happened. Theland and I never agree and would hate each other to madness if we took to heart what the other said - but we don't and we're the best of friends. Some people seem to take everything so personally. Flipping heck! It's only AB!

Le Chat - I do not have a problem with Naomi24's style of arguing - but you have said it yourself - its like beating your head against a brick wall. Considering she has changed her mind about Islam based on what keyplus90 has said, why do it - why keep on and on when you know for a fact that you will not get anywhere? I said something to keylplus90 earlier and got nowhere so I will not bother again - its not worth it.
Is this really enjoyable? Perhaps to some it is.

Catron As I said before, it takes more than one to argue.
An enigma? Well.
No, this thread is not personal to me. I've studied religion over many years, and take a great interest in the subject, so in the main, R&S is where I spend my time when I'm on AB. I like debate, and my favourite topic of debate is religion or anything connected to it. Nothing enigmatic about that.

Then why did you say you had change your mind about Islam based on your interactions with keyplus90, naomi24? You have said that is is all verbal jousting - but if it was, you would not have taken any notice of anybody on here, would you. If you take no notice of Theland, who is as as fundamental in his religion as keyplus90 is in his, why are you taking keyplus90's words more seriously than you do those of Theland?
Catron I beg to differ. I do take Theland's words very seriously. You only have to look at the debates we've had in the past to see that. It doesn't stop us from having our light-hearted moments though.
Of course it's verbal jousting - it can't be anything else on AB - but that doesn't mean we don't learn from it - and I've certainly had my eyes opened by Keyplus' posts.

naomi Thankyou for asking.
He is fine thanks. As a member of HMAF he can get 20mins a week on the 'phone.........strange as seeing if he were a guest of HMPS he would be entitled to 30 mins. Can you spot the discrepancy, there ?
But getting back to the thread, I feel you and I (and possibly others too numerous to mention here) have made it our business to 'think outside the box' and question why we should slavishly adhere to any 'organised' religion. We are also enquiring as to quite why others do, or feel that they ought to exhort others to. And quite why any set of religious observances must therefore be observed by the wider population, regardless of their own particular conscience ?
And with apologies to naomi (please turn away now, as I would hate to make you blush), keyplus you have had the good fortune to be attempting to justify what has been asked of you by one of the most considerate and kind-hearted contributers on here. Being menaced by naomi is rather like being lashed with a scented bootlace...............please do not attempt to insult her for you really 'will' feel the wrath of AB.............

I have never insulted anyone and never will do. I just gave my views, few might have liked that few did not. If that is insulting then I should have felt the same way. That is OK as I said earlier to Waldo that I do not think that anyone is in a position to change other's mind here as we are not even ourselves. We are Wizards, Waldos and Keyplus. As far as the wrath of AB is concerned I already have had this idea that I am up against a whole team.
Jack Oh, good gracious ......I don't know what to say ........and that has to be a first! :o) Thank you.
Yes, there does seem to be a bit of a discrepancy there, to say the least. Proper priorities aren't exactly this government's forte, are they? I'm pleased to hear he's ok though - it must be such a worry for you.
Excellent explanation, by the way. Precisely.
