Since Naomi will not give me the ****ing key I have decided to follow Jesus and be a Christian just like Theland. I am ashamed of my past history here so I'm going to devote the time I used to spend on ab to reading the Bible. No question really because I no longer care about what people think. I'll get all my answers from God from now on thank you.

Mibs - You might have been born with a silver or plastic spoon in your mouth, the ar$e hanging out of your kecks, or a nurse maid running after you. Any or all of these would create a paradigm from which you would begin your search for knowledge, and without some basis for your beliefs communicated as a preface for your dissertations, your thoughts carry a question mark as to their veracity.
So, clear up the mystery and tell us a little about yourself, to add stength to your views on such matters as atheism and evolution etc?
Or don't you trust us?
I know i know i know Naomi!
The taste of sock!
My experience of RFA engineers is that they are paper qualified but lack common sense and initiative. God help the poor old taxpayer paying for their silly demands in the refits! Dummies!
But, it pays my wages!
Anybody suffering the credit crunch yet?
Do you know I am still suffering the "goolie crunch" from the crash on my bike weeks ago? Really! such a difficult place to heal up! You can't put a plaster on it!
How's the foot Nims?
How's the Chairman?
See you soon I hope. I'm alright, but short of time to come on here like i used to.
Hello Theland, I'm very pleased to see that you sound in fine form after the gloom and doom of recent weeks. See - told you you were getting your knickers in a knot for nothing. What are we going to do with you? Hopeless!!

The credit crunch hasn't nibbled at me, but I see signs of it all around. I think some people are going to be in for very a very hard time trying to pay their winter fuel bills, but what worries me most is that future generations are going to be paying for many years to come for the debt this appalling government has incurred - and is still incurring. What a bunch of numpties! (What's a numpty? I've heard people say it, but I haven't a clue what it is).

Sorry about your nether regions, Theland. I was going to suggest something that could help relieve the pain, but being the lady I am, I won't. ;o)

Thank you for asking - the foot is still wonky - and so is the chairman.

Theland, you've spit that sock out, you naughty boy.

Numpty: one of a plethora (note associated terms) of possible disparagements directed towards a perceived opponent that are typically appropriate (often even more so . . . if not solely) to the accuser . . .

derr . . . which in this case would be . . . me . . . ~o>
Mibs, I don't know what's going on with your links and me - I can't get into that - and if it's anything like your 'peas on earth', I want to see it. That was really very, very funny! What a way to start my day! Brilliant. Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Hiya Luna, how are you feeling today?

Naomi, This time I will not venture a guess as to why the links are not working for you . . . anyone else having problems with my links?

Here's a possible alternative route to the Numpty link. Urban dictionary hosts a variety of definitions as provided by the common street-wise intellegencia. The original link pointed to the first definition listed there:

1. Numpty 679 up, 69 down
Scottish usage:

a) Someone who (sometimes unwittingly) by speech or action demonstrates a lack of knowledge or misconception of a particular subject or situation to the amusement of others.
b) A good humoured admonition, a term of endearment
c) A reckless, absent minded or unwise person

a) "No. That wisnae wit she meant, ya big numpty!"
b) i.e. "Silly billy", "You big dafty"
c) "That numpty's driving with no lights on!"
I am frequently called a numpty due to section A of Mib's answer, it's always unwittenly as well.

No house.. of viewing. Have fun folks.
That sounds more positive, Luna - I think. :o/

Thank you mibs. I chose the right word then - the first (c) seems to fit the bill pretty well - and, thinking about it, so does the second (c).

By the way, for the sake of any numpties that may have wandered across my 'definition', it was not meant as a definition per se but only to make a point, being, "It takes one to know one" . . . and don't ask me how I know that!

Hopefully everyone here (with the possible exception of Theland) has gathered by now that my intention is not to be believed, but to be understood (and therefore any authority that is pinned to my words by virtue of inconsequential attributes such as age, ancestry, scholarship, occupation, shoe size, etc. is irrelevant to and counterproductive for achieving my primary objective which is to question the basis for and to realise the consequences of our beliefs.

CusTURD pies or no CusTURD pies I do not aspire to be any other persons god (other than perhaps my own). Nor do I claim to be spokesperson for some particular god or any god in general. Any truth I have to offer can only be properly assimilated through a conceptual integration of ones own firsthand perception of and ones own experience with reality where such a correlation can be comprehended. Whether, wherever I succeed (if ever) or fail, that is the only reference I wish or can hope to offer (or accept) as the sole authority for assessing the veracity of my own (and each others) words and ideas.

For those who have long since tired of hearing me harp on and strum out this well rehearsed message time after time and time again, I give credit where credit is due to Theland without whom I wound not have been provided yet another opportunity and excuse to reiterate my motives and modus operandi.
Starman, I think it's safe to say that your aspiration, at least in one respect, has come to fruition. I don't believe anyone here sees you, or ever saw you, as a god.

Now at the risk of treading upon your cyber toes, I will speak frankly. You say that any truth you have to offer can only be properly assimilated through a conceptual integration of ones own firsthand perception of and ones own experience with reality where such a correlation can be comprehended, but how can that be when your reluctance to share with some of us numpties even a modicum of your personal life, and very little of your life experience, amounts, at least to my mind, to a blanket refusal to accept the cyber hand of friendship that is offered? I understand that you wish to be understood purely through your intellect, but unless others are able to build a picture to discern who you may be, what your life experiences are, and hence why you think as you do, then that attitude results only in confusion and misunderstanding, and so defeats the object of the exercise. I accept your choice, but that doesn't mean I understand it, and neither does it mean I'm entirely at ease with it. I know one of my biggest personal failings is my over-sensitivity, but I find the thought that anyone deems me untrustworthy both confusing and disappointing - and I might be wrong - but since I've asked questions, and received no answers, that's what your attitude portrays to me.

I felt your post warranted the clarification of a response, and I've said my piece - and since Theland consistently refuses to use it, I'll put his sock in it now.
Question Author
Naomi, I might not have answered every question you've asked but I've answered many and asked few, most of which were rhetorical and to my recollection, none were intrusively personal.

I pick the questions I choose to answer based on the hope that such answers as I am able to provide might be worthy of your consideration and the time you invest in doing so. Presumptuous of me perhaps, but the availability of my own time is of a limited nature and the quality I strive to maintain does not come easy for me. Many of my submissions are the product of hours of pondering and revision and many of the products of those hours are never submitted at all. In spite of my efforts I find my messages rarely communicate the meaning intended or yield the understanding I anticipated. Still I "try harder" in the hopes that practice will yield progress even though success remains, like me, "elusive".

This is a sample of the kind of messages I normally choose not to deliver but being tortured on the racks of yon inquisitors even I will reluctantly break form on rare occasions, hinting of a pain I have had to deal with and struggled for years to overcome. It is not the torment I have endured but the joy of breaking the chains that bound me I wish to share. If you have never walked in shoes such as I have worn then of course you will not appreciate where I'm coming from. If you can't relate don't expect me to show you how. I can assure you, that would not be the friendly thing to do.

Regarding unanswered questions essential to establishing a friendship, I know not of what you are referring to. I will check my mailbox.

It is equally as important to understand who our friends are as to know who are our enemies. To help with that understanding I offer my most basic criteria for friendship. Friends pursue only mutually beneficial relationships. Such relationships can be and often are wide ranging and diverse but objectively always in one way or the other promote life and well being.

The success of enduring friendships (the kinds that do not end in regret and which never actually existed) depends largely on a mutual understanding of what is ultimately in ones own best interest, sadly a knowledge that is extremely lacking amongst most of our fellow humankind. Therein lies the confusion and accompanying devastation. Those who know who and understand what friends are have no reason to fear nor any reason to be backstabbers. No they are not the same and yes they do both exist.
Question Author
By the way, Naomi. I presummed you would know I was not referring to you or any or our illustrious known (nor necessarily unknown) company when I mentioned numpties that may have wandered across my 'definition'. But in the event you did think that . . . then that you are. Once again, don't ask me how I know that.
