Common factor of England's dismal showing in 2014 and 2010 World cups - Gerrard as captain - uninspiring ,insipid, monotonous voice , out of his depth on the pitch, his type of game is not suited to international football, 100mph - if he can't pass it short, kick it long ! For years Lampard had been considered the weakness in the partnership
How can a side playing 2 holding midfielders, concede 4 goals in 2 games ? They both failed to cover the fullbacks, it was a club partnership that failed dismally, but I suppose they'll blame Henderson.

He did play the ball on for his (not injured) club team mate... that deserves respect.

Who, Henderson ?
No, Luis Suárez
Gerrard has had his time, failed miserably in an England shirt, time to step aside. Out with the old guard, in with the new. All teams in this World Cup are playing high tempo, attacking games, England have been playing 'old fashioned' tip tap, slow build up football. Get the youngsters in and go for it, rather lose having a go rather than going out with a whimper!!

I agree , England were struggling in 1986 world cup until Sir Bobby was forced into making changes and then they thrashed Poland and everything in the garden was rosy
Don't blame Sg blame the bbc ,itv and sky trying to make out they had any chance .in the final game drop ro Sg russ abbot.
Woy took a young squad but didn't play them. Eejit.
I agree totally, Gerrard is not a leader in the John Terry mould. His time is up as an international footballer is over, in my very humble opinion. Steeeeevie Gee and Frank Lampard are well past their best, and it's time for them to step aside.
Casting my mind back to 1966, I can't really match any of the current squad up to the likes of the great Captain Bobby Moore, Nobby Stiles, the Charlton brothers, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters, Gordon Banks, Alan Ball, etc. This year's mob are but pale shadows by comparison.
Whole problem is Roy Hodgson went there not knowing what is best eleven was.About time these meaningless friendlies against Luxembourg or whoever were used to blend a team not make 137 substitutions in each game so as to give the whole English representation in the Premier League an international cap.
Yepp....Gerrard has now slowed down and his passes are predictable, long gone is that decisive "through ball."

But......don't blame Gerard who has been "almost " World Class.

Johnson and Baines can't tackle......Cahill is fine, but the other centre back is not up to it and as i said before the start of the World Cup...from where are the goals coming?
