Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive

My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.

Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)

(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

You've been busy Robinia .I hope you're soon lolling comfortably.
Had a win on the crosswords today.Twenty quid. The nice chap who sends me the crossword every week was the winner and I was the runner up.People will start to talk :)
Sleep tight and goodnight all.

Sitting at pavement cafe quietly only on my own. Going to Lidl later so I can buy my perfume. I still like it.
Hope that's sorted woofy. Saw another post for another group where someone was added without her knowledge.
I put my month.old phone for sale on local fb page and someone wanted it and wanted me to send it to Nigeria . I said no way. Then she wanted me to help her buy one online! Me!!! So I've blocked her. Very pleasant weather today. Still bitten to bits. Sis will be here to.orrow with that cream hopefully!
Hope you are all Ok!
yes Neti, seems like it FB being silly....there is a sidebar which pops up saying "invite your friends to join this group" and it seems like facebook is mistaking a cursor fly over for a click.

blood test wasn't great (the place was too hot) but the implant was very quick and painless. Another three months before I get the actual tooth to go on it.
I had my flu vac yesterday. Have had zero side effects this year, not even a red mark on my arm.....feeling a bit cheated
Good day to you all. Feeling much better today. Still got lots of bites though. Sis's room all ready again. Got my lidl perfume and a set of voile long white curtain just because! Last night we had take away curry and Mr N ordered a chicken biryani, and when he got it home it was prawn he dislikes prawn. I had meanwhile said oh not many prawns in my dhansak. So now I am inundated with prawns. I also said last Monday I could do with a few days before my sister arrived and as M N pointed out everything I have wished for has come true to the detriment of others. Havent done the lottery or I could wish!!!
A blast from the past from an old wreck, literally! Nice to see you are still hiding away and just hoping this doesn't come up as a new post. X
Lottie!!!! hello!!! how are you doing? Same old same old here, its lovely to see you.

hello, Lottie, how nice to see you; hope you're well.
Morning all. Hi Lottie nice to see you!!
Sis finally arrived and she is loads of food in her case. Quality street biscuits custard etc. I opened my belated birthday presents. Got 3 of the grown up versions of the Famous Five. Five go to Brexit island, Five give up the booze. Started on one immediately they are so funny. Damned cat had us up and down all night and she's been so much better lately!
Hope you are all well and happy.
Morning all
Lovely day,warm and sunny.
Hi Lottie, nice to see you again gal.
Nothing doing here .Garden work yesterday while the weather's fine. The eyesore fence has been painted at last so we're getting there.
Don't scoff all those sweeties at once Neti.I bought a tin of Danish butter cookies recently .They seem to have disappeared :)
Nice to see you again and hope you are all as well as can be with biddie itisis and things we get at our ages!!Briefly, the last four years have seen my mobility plummet and am riddled with arthritis in all my joints and quite severe osteoporosis. But at least I have a diagnosis. I have Hypermobility EDS, which is genetic and basically means that my ligaments haven't been doing their job and my muscles have been overworking all my life and caused the arthritis. All to do with faulty collagen, which has also caused the osteoporosis and internal problems. So I walk with a stick, or a rollator and have a wheelchair too. Haven't really wanted to share this, because I have been quite depressed. Am presently waiting for a new shoulder, but the waiting has been long. So my right arm and shoulder are virtually useless. Apart from that I am fine!!!!! There I have shared!! I have just managed, with difficulty to get back on my old LL email. I prefer not to be visible on AB, but would love to hear from you. Also on Facebook which gives privacy if you need it. Lots of lovex
I'm so sorry to hear your woes Lottie.Old age never comes alone as my Mum used to say!
I have to use my stick all the time now .Can't stand for any length of time in one place and getting from A to B is painful but I soldier on with the help of painkillers.
I have a very attractive (not) perching chair for sitting at the cooker, preparing food, doing ironing etc. and use taxis more than ever now for getting about.
It's very frustrating when you've been active all your life and can't do what you want to do and I can understand you feeling depressed.I certainly feel very fed up with it at times.
Chin up gal and KBO xx
Just had a chocolate (I dislike chocolate) birthday cake. Reading of these ailments makes me feel guilty for leaping about! Will sit quietly!
