Can anyone help a complete computer idiot ?
I always download a couple of crosswords from the web which are in Pdf format. When I try to do this today my computer freezes ,they won't load and I have to log off and restart. The Adobe reader thingy is obviously not working . Tried a systems restore but that doesn't do anything either .I have no idea how to download another reader and am missing my Spectator crossword fix !
We use Firefox .
Any ideas ..thank you .

Been drinking coffee down the garden centre with my friend (also called Ann). Whilst there bought myself a new T shirt and a cookery book on meals to cook into under 1/2 an hour. I had a garden centre loyalty voucher to spend.
Bought a new top on the market yesterday and a full length cotton kaftan to wear instead of nightie!! Also had a hair cut yesterday.
Lovely and cool today after the rain - I am much happier.
Have a lovely weekend all of you and special thoughts to you Shaney and for Mr S for tomorrow.
Life gets harder when you get older doesn't it. Just when you begin to wind down to a more relaxing life things like illness crop up. Just not fair!!
LMAO about Jude's chair!! At least you have a go Jude - I wouldn't know where to start!!

Afternoon all and welcome home Vinny. My Dad used to tell a story about a girl he and his mate knew who dislocated her jaw very easily and so they'd tell her jokes to make it dislocate from her laughing and then they'd accompany her to the E.R. to have it fixed - on a regular basis. He said the nurses weren't well pleased when at one time they turned up there two times in one evening.
Couldn't sleep at all the night before this one because of the heat (better now) and just as I was collapsing into bed in the wee hours I heard a knock on my window and believe me you don't want to hear a knock on your window when you live several flights up and you're in your Eco-Fanny=:0 Turned out to be three guys on a skylift (don't know what you'd call them http://en.wikipedia.org) telling everybody to shut their windows cos they were going to knock mortar down from the top floor. Well the indoors temperature was almost 30 degrees and I completely freaked out - not at them, they had already moved on to more celestial regions - as to why us tenants had not been informed beforehand and as to for how long it would be going on. I called everybody - landlord, building company - but nobody knew anything, not even the company themselves. I said somebody must know, it must be on somebody's table but no it wasn't. Or it was, but they were all on holiday. The most absurd reply: "The guy will know." The guy? The guy? He meant the guy on the skylift that went past my window for two seconds!!!
This post is probably too long already. To be continued a little later...

Poor ole swedie, you don't it need all that!
Lottie, how sweet but i'm on my netbook and it is so small can't tell if it's a real photo or a doll!!!
Very overcast and dark and windy, but still stinking hot, a storm brewing mayhap. We usually get a stinker in July or August and the rain comes from the Sahara and makes everything red and muddy, a bugget to clean up.
Daughter is making hamburgers for dinner tonight, (yuk not for me though, I hate them) so I'm in charge of the chips which I will do outside in an electric fryer, but if it's pouring down that 's it, no chips. I will not have smelly chip pans in the house!!!

Glad to hear Mr W is home again and Robinia's flowers are flowering... one of my sisses has your given names reversed too. We have petunias in a hanging basket five feet off the ground; by the end of the season they are just about dragging their knuckles on the floor, so perhaps my pruning advice is not to be followed too closely. Good luck to Mr S too... you could all petition rowanwitch to send a good spell your way.
Just had lunch at the House of Commons, as one does (one was touring the crypt of the royal chapel there, all highly-gilded Victorian fake-medieval decor but the stonework is 12th-century or so), and come home to find an invite to a short-notice BBQ on Sunday which, having such an empty life, I instantly accepted. Shame our trains aren't running, I will have to drive and it is in deepest Essex.

My Thwack jno on the head park isn't usually open to the public on Fridays but I'll make an exception;-) Who are you, jno, that they would open Sissinghurst for you? You do enjoy tickling our imagination don't you:) Nice piccies from there and Jude nice Granny and nice flowers everyone.
Well they haven't been at it today knocking mortar down so I live in hope. There was no way I could stay here with the window shut yesterday so I wen't to the veggie place by the water that I'm always on about and had an early lunch there, and then I actually sat up sleeping in the waiting room of that very building (it's a sort of new agey house for alternative "methods", it's where I went for tai chi for instance). Their waiting room was very deserted as everyone's on holiday apparently and nobody told me to close the window or bugger off - I don't think anybody even saw me but I was asleep so what do I know.
Just so you know, Vinny, Robi and I kissed while you were away (there, that should get him reading back).
Good luck to all the ole men, Mr W for his recovery and Mr S for tomorrow. They will be fine, they have to:)
Robi does that mean that there's hope of repatriation? :D

Answer me this someone, this am all 3 of us went out for breakfast, then we all went off and did out own thing. I came back at 1 o'clock to a tidyish house. Tookmyself off to the cool bedroom where I have been in contact with you lot, FB etc and watched EE and Corrie. Have just emerged from bedroom and the kitchen sink is PILED HIGH with dirty plates etc. Where did it all come from (or for the more erudite , from where(whence) did it come.) Methinks there are squatters living nearby who are making merry with my kitchen, can't think of any other explanation!
Swedie, talking of not sleeping
We have the East of England Harley Davidson Ralley going on a couple of fields away from our house on the racecourse
http://www.fenlandershog.com/
Started last night and the music goes on way into the night over loadspeakers. Actually, I like the Harley Davidson lot, they are no trouble and their entertainment at nights sounds great - loads of rock music. I am tempted to gatecrash, but have to make do with dancing around the garden!!
They come every year!!
