Freezing pdf files

Can anyone help a complete computer idiot ?
I always download a couple of crosswords from the web which are in Pdf format. When I try to do this today my computer freezes ,they won't load and I have to log off and restart.The Adobe reader thingy is obviously not working . Tried a systems restore but that doesn't do anything either .I have no idea how to download another reader and am missing my Spectator crossword fix !
We use Firefox .
Any ideas ..thank you .

Ladies and Gentleman. The Glamorous Granny Competion was won by Lottie who was the only competitior. She has won a free weekend to the Biddiecamp next November.

The first sitting for lunch will be in the main dining hall in 10 minutes time. Please form an orderly queue. Second sitting is at 1.00pm.

This afternoon there will be ball games on the lawn.

Don't ding long (?) me! was out buying new glad sandals and a top and some hair dye for more dark streaks. We have desktop computer back but cannot get it to open up as mouse and keyboard won,t install!!! Man coming up at 16.30hrs, we always have to get him every damned time. It cost 200€ so had better work. Wish I had a tarquin or a picky (or jude's brother but that'sa different matter ) Hopefully it'll work soon!

Hope robi is getting better and all other ailing bids (that word includes all women, men, children and animals!) are feeling OK.

arftunoon' u berggerz. I remember a young buy i goed to school wiv who drashed eezelv jus vor a laaf. I never zee'd any other buyy who could pull 'ees shoulder out of its socket and then drash the bugger back iin jus; by wackin eezselv up against the wall. Ee be called Richard and were a propper bleddy dimwit. Ee uzed to kick up when ee's tea went samzoey and you shoould ev zeed ees vit size, was like bleddy boats twas! apparently it poured down at Sissinghurst after I left yesterday. And we've just had lunch guests who said it poured on their way here. But still not a drop on my once-green lawn. Is everyone lying about the rain? Including the Met Office?

LOL Vin. Cheeky so and so. Got some of it but not all. What the 'ell does drashed, vit and samzoey translate into. Anybody else know cos I don't.
Lovely photos Jno. I was supposed to walk this afto but like Robi says we had a humdinger of a storm so we just sat and had a chat and a brew.
Put one chair together before I went out so I'm going to do the other one now. Bit easier than the table pleased to say.

here I is back on main computer and everything ain't arf large!!! Had to insist that the repair man come up (he didn't even know he had to) and then I made him reinstall most things! Grrrr.

Well thas bin a thunderin an a loightnin hair in Gaulston nuff to send a body runnin fer't hills......... if we had any :)
An as bin a slorrshin' down but oi managed to dodge ter Morrisons atween the showers.
Moi webbed feet and third eye helped a treat. Dew I wunt be able ter see where um a gorn .

Hope you are all Ok .At last it's cooled down a bit here .It rained sooo hard earlier but the ground is baked so hard here it just flooded everywhere . Huge puddles everywhere not sinking into the ground at all .My petunias are very droopy .
