Freezing Cursor

The cursor on my laptop keeps freezing. The University of Youtube told me to check for updated drivers but apparently they're up to date. Does anyone have any further ideas I could try? It's resolved by the ancient act of switching off and switching back on again. TIA

Are the drivers corrupted ? Long shot, but delete & replace anyway.

I occasionally suffer this, which can be resolved by re-booting – but I have a wired USB mouse close-at-hand to plug-in, that always gets the cursor moving again.

Yes, i have always used a wired in mouse on my laptop and have had no such problems.
