What are we all drinking tonight ?

I am enjoying a wonderful Dry Martini at the moment, with some Lidl scrumpy cider to have with my Chilli Con Carne later. ( alas, not home made....the Chilli that is, not the Martini )

"How would these words be pronounced in Canada" .. bouy .. bouy .
math ... math ... and route ... itineraire.
In times gone by, sailors would be hanged from the yardarm if convicted of a capital offence.
Usually a couple of beers (quality craft ones) but tonight Mikey, its gin & tonic, for a change. The gin is Opihr and the tonic is fever-tree, and naturally a slice of lemon.

Food, beef in black bean sauce and sticky Tai rice + prawn crackers for scooping it up.
I'd say that most people I know follow the British spelling and pronunciation. But there are exceptions of course, for example most of us say 'math'; put a 'z' (zed not zee) in 'realize'; say 'tomayto' not 'tomahto'; and other variations.
Back to the subject of 'drinkies' I've often thought the lyrics in the first verse of the Billy Joel song 'The piano man' very strange: "Its nine o'clock on a Saturday.
The regular crowd shuffles in.
There's an old man sitting next to me.
Makin' love to his tonic and gin.....Do you think that guy got thrown out ?
Ummmm - somehow I recall you always said that your dad was NOT an alcoholic. Maybe I am wrong.
Just poured a glass of red.

Ummmm said on page 1 that her father liked a drink.
Yes I know Mamy - but months earlier there was a discussion between her and someone else and she always said her dad was not an alcoholic even though he had liver disease.

Oh has she now said he is an alcoholic??

I missed that just saw 'liked a drink'.

You don't have to be an alcoholic to get liver cancer, it may well be more common amongst drinkers.
Lots of people like a drink but that doesn't make them alcoholics - like this lot here :-)
I have just opened a bottle of rose.
Enjoy Caran.x
Thank you Mamya.
Have you drank that bottle of Ros'e yey, Caran. If not giz a swig ;-)
Yet ^^^^
Nice glass of chilled fizzy water.
A nice bottle of Perrier Jouet on the balcony.
I was running out of cigarettes and the nearest place open was the off licence. When was in there I noticed they were selling bottles of Guinness Porter. I bought one and I was surprised to find it tasted far better then I'd remembered.

And here it is eulogised by Flann O'Brien, recited by The Dubliners. Media URL: https://youtu.be/BYudr9FAGOA
