My cat has stopped covering her poo in the litter tray - why is this and what can I do to stop her?

Sometimes just pure laziness I think. My cat actually runs in from outside, uses the litter tray and then runs out again to play. She is so active she doesn't have time to cover it up. She knows I get rid of it straight away!!!

Seriously, some cats don't like litter trays and literally use them and leave them as quickly as possible. Have you changed the type of litter you use? Sometimes they don't like a new cat litter.

Just as an aside, have you tried litter pearls, amazing stuff that has transformed my life. It can be left down for up to a month (for just one cat). You remove the poo and the wee is absorbed and really does not smell at all or clump up. It is expensive, but lasts so long it justifies the cost and it can just be put in a plastic bag and disposed of in the rubbish bin as their is no nasty smell.

She is only 7 months and is still so into everything - she has far more interesting things to be doing!

Where are litter pearls from? Never seen them in the shops

I get them from a pet food warehouse place. Try somewhere like 'Pets R Us'. They are called 'Litter Pearls' but other people make them too. They look like very large pieces of sea salt. White and semi transparent. I buy a largish bag - enough to fill two litter trays - and it costs about �7.00. But it lasts a month and I have two cats.

Jules, my year old cat did not cover her poo when she was a kitten either. Now that she's older, she sometimes does and sometimes doesn't. I think as Gesso says, it depends on if she has something better to do!! :)
