Restoring A Modern Car - Sorry Its A Long Question
I was just thinking about the costs of bringing my ageing car back up to the standard it was when I bought it and i was wondering what it would cost compared to swapping it for a newer one.
My car is a 2006 vectra estate 1.8 sri petrol with satnav. The mileage is 98k and i have had it since it was 18 months old and had 17k miles.
I still like the car and I still really like the way it looks and it does everything I want ( i confess i am easy to please).
So what things would I need to consider? here's my wish list so far.
-Reconditioned engine with new clutch & engine bay cleaned
-4 new tyres
-new n/s rear door (i scraped it on a bus)
-new interior trim in the rear (i have abused the car over the years and damaged some plastic)
-full exterior valet - including claying the paint and polish
-full external valet underneath and wheel arches etc
-full interior valet - seats and carpets out - its very dusty inside
-new springs and dampers
-new suspension bushes and steering track rods
- air conditioning clutch & regas - air con doesnt work
-some paintwork touch ups - not many
-full service
If i buy the parts i need from ebay - i have a friendly mechanic for the engine.
am I a long way off if I thought I could do that for about £3000
I wouldnt get much of a car for that with mine as a trade in - what do you think ? have I forgotten something major?
I dont want it 'fixed' - I want my original car again.
